What is this wire/plug for... ??

Post by gorrie » Sat Jan 13, 2007 6:18 pm

And, should it be loose??

Just having a quick check over the car after collection and noticed a wire that routes under the Throttle Body and has a 1" (approx) black plug on the end. Only reason I noticed was becaus I was checking to see if the TB was stamped with a '52' to signify the Trophy/160 TB.

Any pointers on this wire greatly appreciated.... K-Series, 135 engine.

(how do I attach an image of it?)

Hi Stu... 2 wires, black/red.

Connector has black casing with a yellow block inside (with 2 pin holes). Car is going fine like, but just in case it's been knocked out by accident.

How do I post a pic?

I would think it is spare if the car is OK

Not sure about pisting a pic, there is a guide to it in FAQ .

Lamda sensor - might be a spare due to the fitting of the 135 head - where abouts are you?

I'm in Blantyre (outskirts of Glasgow - unless someone local can have a look your free to pop over sometime and I'll stick my head in the engine bay)

I'm in Livingston.... Might need to get a hold of a workshop manual so I can see where the heck it's meant to plug in then (unless you can tell me)?

You need to find the image location, right click on the pic then hit the "Img" button then past the location then hit the "img" button again.

Should look like this "[ img]http://www.gorrie.freewebspace.com/images/p1000093.jpg[/img ]" without the inverted comams

I have a left-over connector in my car (yota engine though) but it is because I (like you) have an induction kit fitted. Maybe just something left-over from the factory setup when it is replaced?

The 135 head doesn't result in any loom/connector changes for the S2 and there is no change in Lambda operation, though there is a different ECU for a 135R.

There are some spare connectors - you might find that one was once plugged onto the exhaust flap solenoid which is commonly disconnected along with the fitting of a sports exhaust.

In that general region there are four connectors that matter - the Throttle Position Sensor (it has three wires), the big bore connector for the injector harness (it has many more wires), the cam position sensor (it is one of the two wires coming out of the plastic Lotus cover - the engine wouldn't start without this one, or if it did, it would put on the orange MIL on the dash, and the plug-top ignition wires (it has 3 wires).

So I think your're safe ...

Cheers,
Robin

I think the exhaust flap is vacuum actuated. :?:

You really are a responsive bunch... went out for beers and there's a flurry of answers upon return.

AJT... many thanks... I'll PM you my address in the morning... in case I get it wrong in my drunken state.
