shudder when cold

I am feeling a distinct shudder when lifting the clutch first thing when car starts in the morn. Revs are low cause its cold. When the car is at 50d+, there is no shudder when using clutch at all

also.....what sounds like 'Brrrrrr' vibration when throttle back or letting it run down in gear at higher speeds...but only when carrying passenger

not when in car alone.......

I realise that its a little metal box and there are all sorts of bings and rattles but this is confusing me somewhat.

oh..and a very annoying 'ticking' sound from behind me....not from engine or IED planted in vehicle by insurgent......think it could be from rear window ( rear window

) although it seems very secure. perhaps secure with foam? Might be harnesses, metal contact against metal?

any suggestions gratefully received

the ticking noise could just be the charcoal canister, in which case TADTS (that all do that sir)

aye, that's the best way, mine is only a few months old and even it makes a hell of alot of funny noises

The "brrr" vibration with a passenger is quite likely to the ali floor (TADTS) Mine didn't use to do this but started to after I had removed the seats to fit the harnesses. That then explained why there was a bit of rubber pipe "trapped" beneath the passneger seat.
Ticking noise - listen to Mckean, he knows his stuff

I had an annoying squeak which I had convinced my self was an engine mount or some other serious problem. Solved it at the weekend by jamming a 20p piece between the harness bar and speaker pod

Between that and putting my cat back on, it is almost as refined as an S2, only with better looks

If you're hearing noises now just wait till you've had it a few months!

Still... I know what you mean, but don't worry, most are just part of the car's 'character', some are fixable, and thankfully the rarest of all are just something that's about to fall off

Talking of noises, pulled away from work the other day and was convinced something really, really bad had happened, thundering noise from the front left wheel!!

Parked up on a kerb so I could see underneath, t'was a stick jammed up between the tyre and 'mud guard' dragging along the ground.

Moral of the story... 99% of the time it's nothing to worry about - famous last words, touches wood etc etc

The noise from something falling off is far more ominous than that, one of your perpetual rattles suddenly goes away....

re the floor - this could explain it......last owner put in harnesses in sept 06....this could be the source...will investigate

drove car into work again...more i drive...easier it gets......still that shudder on first take off....but dissappears in 2 mins of driving.......

Yeah..gonna take experienced opinion of you all on this.....was wondering if there had been any messin about with clutch cause of the other tweaks

no other pobs..... apart from grinning like lunatic on straights....then terror remembering tyre condition...

It *might* be an AP performance clutch - although I've never heard of it being juddery - just a little heavier on occasion.

If it's not a permanent thing (it goes away when hot) then I'd not worry about it. Of course, keep it in mind and if anything changes about the feel, then investgate further...

My AP clutch was really light but bit like a fecker and was difficult to get a smooth getaway sometimes. When it warmed up it was better. Since the gearbox change the release arm as been fettled and the clutch is as light and smooth as a light and smooth thing but retains the AP clutch. Dunno about the cover plate though.
