nice brakes!!!

there's quite a good descrition of bedding in proceedure on the Seloc wiki.

basically - 10 mins normal driving, the brake gently from 30 to 10mph 3 or 4 times to warm the pads up
Then do repeated runs of 70 to 30 braking consecutively in as quick succession as you can, not stopping the car in between, and on the last one come to a complete stop and shove the brake pedal as hard as you can, holding it there with cramp in your thigh for at least 2 minutes.

I did it for my new mintex pads a couple of weeks ago. - eaglesham moor is quite handy for it, but i did get a few funny looks from pedestrians!.
love that smell of toasty brake pads!

A.

That's the procedure recommended by Nick Adams too - I know there are other schools of though but that the one I follow.

Still not a fan of holding red hot pads against red hot discs for any length of time. The theory is that it compresses the pads while they are hot but I hate to think what stresses you could be setting up in the disc. I would miss out the compression stage for the sake of the discs IMHO.

This is purely from a materials point of view and my professional opinion as a Carphone Whorehouse part-trained phone monkey. :P

Yea sounds fine without the 2 minute hold at the end. My discs are slightly buckled without doing that!

I think it's been shown before that disk warping is often really uneven pad transfer to the disk and not actual warping.

In the scale of things, 2 minutes is no time at all.

The disks marshall huge forces all day long, so I would be surprised if this procedure did them any harm, but there you go.

Cheers,
Robin

I take it from the pic they are Pagid RS4-2, you might want to get them a little hotter (higher start speed).
From memory bedding in RS14s they recommend 110-30...which would be interesting in traffic on the A90 going to Kames (even at 5am)... :D

Actually in this case just hearsay (though it was Fergus who told me, so reasonable source) - I have never had any warped disk problems, probably because I don't actually go fast enough to need the brakes much ;-)

Normal start speed I've seen quoted is 90 tuts but I guess they poofed out of suggesting people drive fast on the wiki

I'm sure there's a bedding in guide supplied with Pagid pads in the packaging, resembles the procedure quoted but I have never done the "hold for 2 mins" thing.

The various sets and combos I've put together over the years have always worked well as a result. Or perhaps not, who knows ;-)

Best advice I can give is...fit 'em, then drive down your fave road for an hour taking no prisoners

Bed in discs and pads separate if possible. Get them fitted to the rears and let them settle down then bed in the pads. Its better for everything that way.

you mean bed the new discs to the old (slightly wonky) pads, and then change the pads?? front and back??

what is the prob with bedding in both new??
