all oy hub carrier corrosion

Not really a question, but i changed a front wheel bearing today, and having plastic media blasted (much gentler than grit) the hub carrier, was very surprised to see how badly corroded the alloy was around the points where the balljoint's locate.

Nothing structural, but it just makes me wonder how elises will be fairing with these ravages in another ten years time :?:

Ali lasts ages, think of the DC10s still flying around today they have been around since the 50's and live in a much harsher climate than ground level. I'd be more worried about the steel subframe you can't really see.....

Not particuarly worried, just surprised. Anyway, the car's at my mum's, so i haven't bothered putting it back together, here's a few shots:

Yep, look just like mine when I did the wheel bearings last year. Most of the corrosion seemed to be where the Duralac has squeezed out.
