Good Elise Garages in Scotland

Post by Gibby » Tue Oct 25, 2005 11:10 am

Hi Folks,
First visit here, (kindly directed here via a post on SELOC),

My question is:
Where in Scotland might I find a reccomended garage or garages who know the Elise well enough to do some work.

At the moment I need to sort out a cam belt (C service), change
which I understand will be rather expensive by Lotus (Murray) dealer prices? (service history may well have to go by the wayside :( )

I am also looking at having some work done on suspension, (replacement stuff, not sure which stuff yet), and maybe uprated manifold, Cams.......

Who knows their stuff with these cars, and has the tools for the job?

cheers :)

Welcome along Gibby,

http://www.djbmotorsport.co.uk is one of us (Brunty) and gets good crit. There's also a few others like Falkland Performance Centre in Fife.

I do most of the work on my car myself, so can't really comment from a personal point of view, but there are a few members who I'm sure will be along shortly to help :)

Brunty all the way :D

...good bloke who knows his stuff and doesn't charge the earth. Doesn't even charge you for his time when you both stand about gabbing ! :D

EDIT : Its also not a bad road to his house !
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Another vote for brunty at djbmotorsport.

Picked my car up from his manor last night, well chuffed with the attention and price.

He did a half C service on mine, im going back mid november to get the belts and track rods done.

Road to his house is good, but not last night, most of it was under water!

Edited to add : shug its .com the .co.uk is someone else!, http://www.djbmotorsport.com/

A word of warning about Falkland performance; I know some big-turbo jap import guys (anyone see the 1000bhp Jun Skyline at Crail? - him & Co) who said they wouldn't send an enemy there! The skyline guy (who has a few other choice autos too) recommends Bill at Greersport - http://www.greersport.com. When my liz has a prob, I plan on sending her there.

Dunno if that helps.

Cheers,

Greg

A mate bought a 450bhp skyline from greersport and said the same, know their Jap stuff. Sure they would manage with a K! But as for things like worn out suspension bits its maybe better for someone with experience of elises no?

oops

I know of a couple of guys who have used falkland from the Yahoo group, but heard nothing dodgy. Having said that, probably not the most scientific sample.

What is a scientific sample though? I've used them, they were ok. For servicing I'd probably go to Brunty as he's an owner and heard plenty good things about him. A C service at Murrays will be expensive as an A service (oil change) for an S2 is about £330.
