Think I've knackered one of my rear discs. Looks like there's been a stone lodged and now have a few nice grooves right round the disc. Also have a really annoying (though not too loud) grating noise I think from that wheel-sounds like the brake rubbing. I'm assuming it's a replacement pair of discs with accompanying pads?
What about changing only rear discs? Was going to look at grooved design instead of plain ones on at the moment. How do you think this will affect the handling under braking if I leave plain ones on the front?

Put the front discs on the back and the new ones on the front.... Check the scrubbed area on the disc (the shiney bit) IIRC the fronts cover more of the discs so would be OK.

From what I have read the rear bias is only something like 10% anyway so get the good stoppers on the front!

Not sure about the 10% rich, but the rest is correct.

The rear pads cover around 75% of the disk compared to the fronts, so with worn disks this is the only reason that they are not ideally interchangeable, ie put rears on the front and the lower part of the pad will be running on an unused ridge.

tut
