Leave it on, looks more plausible when you get pulled for no front plate

If its to remove it to re-stick, get a rag with some petrol on it and give it a rub - job done.

It will go all soft and with your nail you can scrape the remaining (now soft) glue off. Try it and you`ll see. But not if you plan on running with no plate cos as Si says you want to make it look like it just fell off.

Any 'solvent' should soften and remove the glue from the sticky pads.
WD40 is also worth a try.

I found the best thing for removing old duct tape residue (exceptionally stubborn after being on for months and the tape itself stonechipped off!) and residue from sponsor/TSE stickers etc was 'bug and tar remover'.
The stuff I had was from Halfords, maybe TurtleWax?
