Audi just blown its turbo...... I think

Post by Victor Meldrew » Mon Mar 26, 2007 5:49 pm

Just had Lesley on the phone, I think the S6's turbo has thrown its hand in. Either that or the manifold..

Lesley is phoning the AA tomorrow, should get a curtesy car out of them...

Planning to get it towed to Fife Auto Centre. They have been really good with me before.
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

Was thinking about the Audi obviously.... 8)

Watching an RS2 turbo unit on Ebay...... 330bhp possible with one of those.. RS2 manifold also on Ebay just now.

£600 for parts and 250bhp up to 330bhp...

Am I tempted....

No, don't bother ... it will make very little difference to anything except fuel and reliability ... we used to have A4 quattro 2.8 with sports this that and the other - was a nice quick car - mate bought the S4 for a while (2.7 turbo nutter barsteward variety of the A4 quattro) and all though it was obviously quicker in a straight line, it still was a barge in the corners; a standard elise would have killed either car.

Cheers,
Robin

Just found out that the S6 has popped a spark plug... I have never heard of a normal road car blowing its spark plug out of the head. There is no thread left in the head to screw it back into...

So.

option one: Helicoil repair (much cheapness) :thumbsup
Option two: New head (lots of tears, mega expensive, might have to sell some body parts....

Helicoil and sell it sharpish. oh and don't use the same garage that did your last service as some monkey probably crossed threaded it.

That said i have seen a large generator blow a starting air valve out. big hole in the rocker cover large dent on bulkhead

Were you the spanner monkey that fitted it? ;)

Have had a chance to speak to the garage again...

Threads totaly stripped in one of the plug holes. All five plugs badly burnt. Coil packs fried. Rocker gaskets leaking oil...

All parts ordered and with a bit of luck, the head gets re-threaded tomorrow.

Just have to wait and see if here is anything else wrong when they get it running again.......

Fix and punt I think.

For sale.. Audi S6. used to have 250 bhp.. well oiled engine bay. open to offers.
