Local mechanic provided me with a printout from my ECU:

P0507 - Idle Control System higher than expected

It illuminated the MIL light but the strange thing is that it reported it happening at 42kmph. I did notice previously that the revs would occasionly jump to about 1100rpm while idling. What could be causing this, any ideas?

Hmm. Have you fitted an induction kit?

I have a pipercross that's been on the car for over a year, is it possibly dirt getting into the throttle body? I've read about lots of MIL/induction issues but can't remember this code ever being mentioned before.

The car was last serviced at a Lotus dealership in Cardiff about 7mths ago, just before I bought it. So based on the fact that Lotus dealers are experts in their field and thorough in their work, I'd say with absolute confidence that they never even looked at it!

I have some cleaner and filter oil in the garage from my motocross bike so I'll give it a clean and oil this weekend as it's as dry as a...well, it's dry. What's the best way to clean out the throttle body? Will I have to remove it to do so?

probably best to have a look at the insdie of the inductyion tuve first and see if there is any evidence of dirt making its way through the system.

I had also had my car serviced by lotus, and never thought ot check that as they had fitted the induction, and charged me about 400 for the pleasure, that they would then never service it going forward.

I think removing the Toyota throttle body is a pain in the ass due to some custom anti-tamper screws that LAwrence spent ages trying to find an tool fo but too no avail
