Having some difficulties with my S160 that i hope some of you technical guys could shed some light on if possible.

My car cut out on Sunday and the problem was traced to the fuel pump. Nothing was being pumped!

So, the pump was replaced and the problem still persists. The relay is fine and it appears to be wiring related....? The garage dealing with it spoke to Lotus but no one can seem to figure it out

When you turn on the ignition with the imob unarmed you should get power to the pump for about 3-4 secs. Then when you start cranking the pump should start again. When you say the relays ok, do you mean the mfru? This is all controlled through the ecu so if you cant get power at the pump id check the conrol line from the ecu first. Cant remember if the ecu grounds a pin or brings it high, havent got the manual here. Robin will probably remember of hand what pins are used. If needed the immobilizer caan be bypassed in the boot compartment by shorting two pins so that might be worth trying too.

Might also be worthwhile checking the engine cut out ( impact sensor) down beside the rear subframe.

Speaking to the garage that are dealing with they car, they say that they can get the car to run if they bypass a particular part of the electrics. They never mentioned if this was the immobiliser that was being bypassed..... Ideas?

Cant they tell what part? MFRU is a black box around 4 inch by 3. It has several relays inside so could be it. Could be be the inertial cut out and could also be the immob.

I think they are now waiting for an electrical specialist to come out and take a look.

If it's the immob bypass that's making it work, then the simple explanation is you may have a goosed immobiliser. If you bypass it, that doesn't bypass anything else in the chain to the fuel pump, so you can probably say it's either the immob or the wiring immediately surrounding it.

I take it you've checked the fuse? open boot, pull forward the carpet at the left hand side and there's a circular hole where a 20A fuse should be sat. Haul that out and check all is well

It turned out to be some faulty wiring. What a bugger! The auto electrician sorted me out.....

And before I asked if it had fuel in it too

My brother took the whole fuel system of his golf to bits and declared it must be a HGF before he realised there was no fuel in it
