I velcro mine on.

When it was stuck on with some super sticky wide tape the MOT garage used I simply used a metal wall paper stripper to force it off. Getting a Polish stripper to do it would be more fun though...

I just stuck the new one on top of the old one....

I know it's added weight but I was in a hurry. :)

Just pull hard and it should come off. It will leave loads of sticky sh*t behind though. Just get some more sticky pads from halfrauds or get velcro from B&Q.

if worried about yanking it too hard you could maybe use some string and hold it either side of the glue, then use it in a sawing motion to cut through the glue bond between plate and mount.
Top tip to avoid damaging any paintwork!

simple yet effective :thumbsup

got this done eventually .... however the only way i could remove all the glue under the old plate was to rub it with my thumbs ... so now i have a blister on each thumb ... which is cool as i was never sure whether to pop a blister or not ... so i popped one and left the other too see how it works out :D
