Engine Oil Specifications

Standard spec for Elise is 5W-40 fully synthetic. Are there any pros/cons to using 15W-50 Mobil 1?

Can't remember how the ratings go to make informed decision!

The rating is fairly simple to understand Clarkie.

The number b4 the W is the cold viscosity. That means the lower the number the more it'll protect your engine while it warms up.

The number after the W refers to the hot viscosity. The higher the number here the more the oil will protect and lubricate at high temperature (such as fast road or track use).

Don't worry too much about the make of oil, as long as its a reputable brand. (thats my opinion anyway)
