Brake Squeak (Pagid RS4-2s)

Post by dezzy » Thu Jun 21, 2007 11:26 pm

My brakes are squeaking when coming to a stop at low or high speeds and regardless of temp (although I'm convinced it's actually louder when they're hot). Is this just something I need to put up with since fitting the Pagids a few weeks ago or should I put some more copper grease on the back of the pads?

It sounds like it's mainly the rear pads.

They were fully bedded in before proper use and have been used on a trackday, Tut Towers and day to day driving since.

Cheers,
D

Sounds like a bit more bedding in is required! Try getting them really hot ie lots of tuts back to 10. That should do the trick. :thumbsup What does everyone else think?

I followed the procedure on the pagid website pretty closely, but will maybe give it another try this weekend. Cheers Ed.

Not to worry mate... it'll all come good in the end.....

One thing I've learnt over the last couple of years is that a week is a hell of a long time and a lot can change during it.... things always seem to work out eventually!!

or maybe I've watched too much "my name is earl" tonight and I'm all Karma'd up at the moment.... who knows!?!

Good to have you back Neil :thumbsup

Anyway . . . . back on topic . . . I don't understand why I have to bed them in again? :scratch They were bed in properly when first put on and have been used for some pretty damn hard braking since (ask Kenny about the 2nd gear right hander on the way to Tut Towers! ) so I don't understand why I need to do it again?

Cheers,
D

TADTS
Mine squeak sometimes when cold, they usually develope a really loud squeak as the temp starts to build, once up to temp they are fine.

Wait till you are hitting the brakes at the 100m board at over 100tuts on the way to the hairpin at KH, then you will know hard braking
