Hi folks,
Posting on behalf of John Reid, as he broke down on the way home from my house and is currently waiting for a mechanic to come and pick him up at the side of the M8. He was losing water from the header tank and it appears to be down to the cap not sealing tight.
John will order a new one but it may not be here in time for the SIDC trackday this Saturday.
Does anyone have a spare S1 header tank and cap that John can borrow for Sat/Sun? He'll need to fit it on Friday in advance of the Saturday trackday.
Please post here or PM John if you can help.
Thanks!
D

Dezzy
You are asking for two items there, the tank and the header tank cap.
Do you mean just the cap?

He's not having much luck
Landrover dealers stock them as do most Kia dealers £3. I would imagine Halfrauds will do one that fits too.

Nope, John asked me to ask for both tank and cap.

Managed to get a cap today. The tank itself is ok, it was hard to tell when it was dark at the side of the motorway.
drained most of the coolant out and refilled as per the manual. Biggest problem was getting the front wheel arch out to get to the drain point. All sorted now.
Ran the car at idle for half an hour and the temp done what it should with the fan cutting in at 100 and out at 90. No more loss in fluid. Let the car cool down and boxed it all together again. Ran the car for an hour again and all temps normal, no leaks.. sorted..
All ready for the SIDC on Saturday.
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

Good going John.
You do not have to take the wheel arch lining out to bleed the front nipple.
Just park it pointing uphill if possible, and there is enough room to get your fingers to the knurled screw on the bleed from the top, but be careful not to undo it competely and drop it.
