I've hit the rev limiter in top gear on my s2 135 and that was around 140... Obviously that was with my lighter and therefore superior rover k series lump though ;)

Highly unlikely unless on a track with very long straights. 5th gear is a terrible gear to get you up to vmax.

despite saying 'on track obviously' I doubt there's any merit in this thread I'm afraid

Lotus figures are normally a pile of cr@p.

My old exige was quote as 145 and it wouldnt do anymore than 142.
That was 150 on the dial though! :)

Did you have the roof on ? Going topless slows my car down when doing a max Tuts run. Try harder

The S2 111s is claimed 132 Tuts which I have seen on the speedo but it felt like it was going to take off , never again.

then don't accelerate beyond the speed limit of the particular piece of 'track' you're on at any one time. The Elise is a great car, but point to point in a straight line is not where it excells. If you try a willy-waving exercise against a riceburner of any sort, you will end up embarassed

thats the difference between having second cam (111r and exige) and not having second cam (Elise S)

2nd cam in 3rd will hit 95tuts, through 4th will pop you past 120tuts quickly, and it will keep going in 5th too right round the dial slowing accel progressively:D

Loved 2nd cam when i had my 111r. The SC Exige S is even better for pick-up through the cogs

It's trivial to get just about any car you like up to 125mph - the Fuchrohre at the Nurburgring will get you there in a standard Ford Focus :-) You exit the previous corner well into 3rd gear (4th on a 6-speed box) and it's a huge drop to the bottom, so much so that I think you can hit the rev limiter in 4th (5th in a 6-speed box) if you have the balls.

It also has some quite long straights where you might be able to get to that sort of speed, though if vmax is claimed as 127 I doubt you'll get more than 120 on any flat straight. How much power does it have ~140bhp, no? Should do more than 127 then ...

Pretty sure the same might be true of the downhill straight into Eau Rouge (sp?) at Spa, though you do start somewhere in 2nd at the top hairpin there, so maybe not. Even with my driving Miss Daisy approach to track days I was cresting the top of the hill at 100mph, so I would think the speed at the bottom has to be around the 120 mark and I was lifting towards the bottom of the downhill section on approach ... (chicken!) ... so 125 must be doable in just about any elise.

Cheers,
Robin

160bhp elise, 145 on the dial - 143 gps
223bhp elise, off the dial - 160 gps

robin, at eau rouge in my 160 bhp car, i was hitting the limiter in 4th, which was 120mph. not sure what it is in the honda, i have my eyes shut

at the foxhole in the honda it is 145mph in 6th gear, cant remember what it was in the old k series though.

I do. It wasn't legal, if you mean the time you and Ian Wilson did a back to back test.

:-)

I know that VVC Stuart runs on the rev limiter from just before the bottom of the dip until just after it. So that's 7,200 in c/r 4th whatever that adds up to.
not sure what it is in the honda, i have my eyes shut
I think that is about the only way - I just lift instead :-)

Eek. I think my car will make 130+ down there, but I don't have the balls :-)
