Great day yesterday, blue skies, dry track but rather cool wind chill brrrr. Didn't seem to be the usual Hot Marques crowd although it was very busy. I agree with Brian some were a little over zealous :?

The T bar twins were there as usual running in synchro plus a few Lancers and a Sapphire Cossie having a full on race.

Good to meet Mass and Jon, the Club Racers look fantastic guys. In the MMC showroom I wasn't so sure but in the daylight they look 8)

Brian thanks for the pax, the ECU flash makes a big difference. The Exige certainly has more mechanical grip and less understeer than the Elise..............................

Well as it happens, photographing the day, i still didn't work out that there were two on track, i blame it on the baltic conditions, could barely press the shutter button to take a pic! (getting my excuses in early for my cr*p photos!)

I did meet Neil and his other half, at that point i had done 3.5 hours in the cold, battery was dying and my will to live was no longer there, so apologies if i fcuk off without much chat Neil!

Annoyed that you pitched up Paul, Jim and Ross, and i never got a chance to speak to any of you!

Cheers,

Dave

I was the only Club racer on the track. Did you take some nice photos?

Will be up late tonight! some good ones i think, for me anyway! See others seem to think there were two club racers too!!!

Hope I didn't piss anyone off - I was in the white CSL. I found the driving quite close but manageable, had a good few close laps with one of the Evo's and the Cosworth. The dune buggies were fun but a pain at times, took me 2 or 3 laps to get past them however I did find it funny when the red one tucked in behind me going up the pit straight really close and basically got dragged along - would have loved to have seen a pic of that lol

Next time I'll bring track tyres though! :D

Great photos. Thanks for taking so many photos of the Club racer! Can you give me some photos in a higher definition?

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Felt a bit of a dickhead as I arrived at 1100 with Ian thinking it started at 1200.

However it turned out well as there was a track session in progress, caught site of a couple of Elises, Wullie was in the Control Tower, so I got on for the last hour. A white something snarled past me as I came out, so tucked in behind him thinking it was a track Honda S2000. Turned out to be a flame spitting Mazda RX7 with 600hp. Had a couple of good sessions with him, could not pass him on the straight, just draw alongside, but I was faster in the corners. Nice guy and I tried to get him to stay for the afternoon, but he had to go home.

Fantastic weather all day, and the new 48R's and brake pads worked well, so got through two tanks of fuel. However too many red flags, and we probably lost around 50 min track time.

Many thanks to those of you who took Clare, Ian and Kaylie out for pax rides, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Mass, when Clare saw your baby blue car, she said that she wanted to marry whoever owned it. She also loved the tuned Turbo Porsche, and we were having a good session until he lost hp with a burst turbo pipe. I think he has two of them though.

I just discovered the KH thread on PH Gassing, and there were complaints about some of the cars and driving standards. I had in fact posted that the standard had been generally good and I had no problems at all, but then again it helps to be able to pass almost everybody, and I am hardly going to be intimidated. I suppose you are likely to have a different perspective if you are driving £100K worth pf Lambo, Ferrari or Porsche.

My biggest gripe was the new charging system. I had my son, daughter and friend with me, and had to pay £5 each as passengers, and £40 if I wanted them to drive. As the car can only be on track with one driver, that is just a con. Neither John nor myself charge extra for drivers or passengers for our events, and we keep the payments below Knockhills.

Got a couple of pics from PH with the Mazda, and also a u-tube link.

ps Sympathise with Brian on hitting the bale at the Chicane. The sun was smack in our eyes as we crested making it hard to judge.

No complaints on driving from me either, Bruce Taxi evos were racing each other as usual but that happens on SIDC days as well.

Didnt realise KH were charging for paxes, that is a con, but charging for second drivers on Hot Marques days has always been the norm. Mind you they did let me on for half price mid way through the session.

Also I caught up and passed the blue Nissan 350Z Coupe a few times, and the sound from his engine/exhausts was amazing. He had Nismo detailing on the rear, so I presume it was upgraded?

"just abit, its supercharged to around 500bhp,i remember last year the owner said it did have something like 600 but it kept stripping the belts"

Even I was catching him, he might have stacks of power but he was braking 100m before me at Duffus and the hairpin.

I think there may have been two drivers if even you were catching him Kenny!

Nah seriously though, i watched for a bit as the sound was amazing, Peter Stringfellow was driving for a bit, and then a younger looking chap who was a bit more reserved. Beautiful sounding car, and i think i got a few nice shots of it as well!

Some nice stuff there Dave. I really like some of the paddock shots particularly the legends. That strong low winter sun can be killer though.

What camera and lens are you using? All most all of the images look a little soft to me but that may just be the way I was viewing them with the tremendous PicLens add-on for Firefox. You were obviously trying out some panning shots. Some of these have worked and some haven't. The only advice I can give is review these regularly in the wee screen and zoom in to ensure that details like the number plate are in focus whilst ensure that the background and wheels are blurred.

I am sure that the pros will tell you to use RAW as it gives you much more control in post processing. I use jpegs as they are fine for what I need.

Love this one of Brian (looks a wee bit over exposed on my screen)

Stewart,

Thanks for that all taken on my Nikon D50 with a a 70-300 tamron lens which is not the best, and ideally in the next 6 months i want to upgrade this lens, to something a bit faster for Motorsport.

I freely admit to having f*cked up some of the photos, which i should probably have left alone, but first time in CS3 so was experimenting, and then changed to lightroom half way through! i think i will continue to shoot in JPG from now on, until i have a fecking clue what to and what not to play around with.

All of the paddock shots were taken with my new 50mm prime lens, which is brilliant, an absolute bargain, and has spent most of the last month on my camera! It was also the first time in 5 months that i had tried a panning shot having just got the hang of it last year, however the freezing cold didn't help me move freely with the cars as they were moving! Anyway all excuses done now! :D

Cheers,

Dave

Just thought I would say hello as i did not get a chance to on the KH day. (did not want to seem like a t*t asking who everyone was) I was down in the Stang but decided not to take round track as I was not keen on how the EVO's were playing.

Poor mate was getting grief most of the time from me. As I would have been on the track with you guy's in an Elise if it were not for HIM!!!

Great day out apart from being freezing!

We spoke at the start, but I was so busy I did not get a chance to ask you if you wanted to come out for some fun.
