It wasn't the ones with the gullwing hardtops was it? A red and a black one with gold writing on it

There is often two red S1's that go around together, joined by a black one that arrives on a trailer and has advertising on the side.

I have no problem with them, but I believe they are less inclined to pull over for cars that they do not know.

I passed them no problem but then couldn't shake them.
Didn't like them sitting too close so pulled over to let them past.
Spoke to the guy in the red one, he seemed fine enough.

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

That's the ones. 2 red, one black (Edinburgh paving co) and one silver with Exige type spoiler etc.

They came out in convoy which looked like a bad move (caused a bit of a traffic jam) but once they got up to speed they seemed on pace. The guy in one of the red ones was very entertaining, he looked fast but was also throwing it into Duffus at veryhigh speed.

Anytime I've seen them on track I've had to muscle my way past or tag in behind a "quicker" car.

They seem to only let cars past which they perceive to be quicker so S1 Exige, 340R ect are fine - another elise - no chance!

I had fun on Sat, even after a quick off road moment at the Chicane, and having to take the bonnet off to fish out the plate to screw the pin back in ;)

Borrowed tools off one of the guys with those Elises, and had a shot of their tyre pressure gauge too. Their driving worried me slightly in the first few mintues, I pulled over and lifted to allow them past into Clarks, but was still two abreast with one of the red ones on the outside  They seemed chatty and nce enough, but got the impression that they would only pull over for something seriously quick.

The yellow Lancia Integrale held me up for a while, but he pulled into the pits just when I was about to do the same, was about the same on the straights, but he was very slow in the twisty stuff. got to the stage where he was pulling over, but not lifting, so I would get a good run out of the hairpin and be just about to get alongside by the bridge, so I dropped back.

I was almost thinking on Sat I was being too courteous and pulling over too often / think the lonigets I had someone behind me was from 2nd part of Duffers to after the chicane.

When the last red flag came out I eased off to find the Orange BTCC Pug up my chuff, with (I think) the female KH employee at the wheel (who had been doing pit exit duties), she actually went past me up to Clark's - I saw the marshall jumping up and down with the red flag!!!

A fewred flags, but I think other than the Evo bumper one at the end, I was in the pits having a rest and a chat for the others :thumbsup

The guys with the S1 Elises are always there and are Ok chaps, but I've seen them getting black flagged for racing each other on more than one occasion. I have no problems with them though but they do circulate in a gaggle, quite fast but the silver one seems a bit slower.
Yellow Integrale was a bit of a pain, spent 3 laps behinds, he was slow on twisties and also slow on straight but stuck to the left. Maybe new to trackdays. Irritating thing was not a blue flag in sight (as promised in briefing) when I was behind him. Not worth complaining to marshalls though, problem did not reoccur. The thing was sliding around like crazy at extremely low speed in corners, must be on the original Pirellis from 1985. Have spied that car on Leggart Terrace Aberdeen btw, it is a nice looking bit of kit.

The Marshalls were great with me in that regard, anyone failing to yeild, and the blue flag was soon waving - never seen it out so often before :thumbsup

Top effort there mate, made even more impressive by the fact that you managed to blurr the background on the NSX picture when it was lapping at the pace of a milkfloat.

(As much as we joke about talent maskers......the Evos do take some beating for point and squirt driving.......but there must be another gizmo which prevents the driver from pulling over when 118bhp comes up his chuff!)

Highlights

Met a few new faces(Neil,Simon,Meatball) today and witnessed some tidy Loti/Atom/Caterham/Honda driving

The S2000 was easily the best drift round the hairpin :thumbsup

Andy and Mrs G (It must be love mate)
Anyone who can constantly pax KH in the furious rate that the Atom delivers without soiling themselves is made of stern stuff. Andy your pace was definitely greater (safe in the knowledge that for once.... you had new rubber and brake pads?)
Andy ...your offside brake light is not working......before Lothian's finest pull you over

BrianJ and Kayfur......Gentlemen racers who take a tidy line

Taking three laps to collect an pass an obstinate white Suburu who eventually spun off try to copy my slide round Clarks (Tripmeter showed 142miles of trackwork without much Pirelli drama and fab mmc brakes)

Want to do another track though......Anglesey/Oulton/Cadwell anyone?
Iain, good to chat to yourself and Gareth, shortly before my eviction from the pit lane. :wavey

Hi guys seeing as I attended the day I thought I would chip in and introduce myself, I was actually trolling for some info on Elises!

I was in the, rather slow, black Z4C on Sat. I must admit I was a bit rusty after a few years out from track driving. Sat was my second outing in the car and first in the dry, don’t you just love the ever threatening rain we get over at K.H.

I’ve been a bit of a car nut for as long as I can recall. I’m currently courting the idea of going for an Elise, although not for a little over a year yet. Come replacement I might chop the Z4 in for something more practical, read boring :tired , and team it up with an Elise!

I have to say the pace was quick on Sat. In the past I’ve managed to hold my own but I was way off on Sat. I hope I didn’t hold to many of you up and perhaps managed to dispel some of the stereotypes regarding BMW drivers and didn’t hog the track to much

I’m not going to blame my tools as I was getting quicker as the day went on regardless of how the car was holding up. My main problem being the tyres although, being a BMW the brakes lost pressure/feedback early on although they did the job, just. The main issue was that the tyres just shredded. All four simply melted and then went off after 4/5 laps. The O/S’s, both front and back are by far the worst though. The edge of the tread blocks are all melted and distorted. I’m lucky in that thus far I’ve not had any vibrations.

Anyway was great to see so many great cars out there being used as intended :thumbsup
