I think I saw you on the track. I was in the Gulf CR.

Must change the car to a Loti if you intend to track often. The tyres and brakes will hold up much better. So much more fun on the track. Next time, give me a shout for some pax laps.

Another great TD on Saturday. Driving standards not as good as SIDC but not quite sure how they police this, different sort of crowd  I was standing on the pit wall when AndyG got squeezed by the White Evo  The guy that lost his front bumper on the Grey Evo nearly ran into the back of me at the hairpin all crossed up under the brakes. C'mon guys it's a bit of fun

Briefing was quite amusing when a couple of drivers were bemoaning about slower cars not pulling to the right on the main straight asap after the hairpin to let them there 'quicker' guys past. Instructor asked if he had one of those V8's with a long phallus bonnet :damnfunny :damnfunny

Think they're kinda missing the point in that it is a trackday and not a full tilt race. I've yet to hear any of the genuinely quick guys complain to this extent about slower cars.

Thanks to Mass for the PAX great fun :thumbsup Not much difference in performance to my car.

Mr Meatball managed to fold himself into the PAX seat for a few laps and was keen to see the traction control switched off. He was a bit less vocal after my line through the chicane:shock: TC is a pain as it keeps re-enabling for no reason but found instead of switching off with variable control just keep your finger on the button :thumbsup

P.S. Mass if you're looking for more speed from the CR this could be the kit for you http://www.proalloy.co.uk/cgi-bin/sitew ... d=proalloy

Right back at you mate - i was the black atom :thumbsup

If you enjoyed it keep an eye on trackdays for the next SIDC session, on Aug 30th. Can't make it myself, but the best run trackdays by far, less muppetry and more friendly & fun.

Also welcome to sign up for the AMP3 Charity Track Outing in September if you fancy it

:welcome by the way :cheers

Thanks for the link :thumbsup I don't need the extra bhp at the moment as I will buy a Caterham.

The on/off TC is rubbish on my CR and as you said, it comes on by itself often :rage Really depressing when you want to slide the car and find the TC is mysteriously back on.

It really feels like a fuel starvation when it kicks in. No good at all.

I've done a SIDC before a few years back, had a Ford Racing Puma back then. Your right though they are well run days, and very popular so much so that I left it to late for the last one I thought about going to

The AMP3 charity day sounds like a good days fun, made all the better by the fact its for a good cause. It might even work in well as a final send off for my tyres if I’m good between now and then.

I’d deffo get back to you on that one once I have at look at what’s in the diary, and what the wife has or hasn’t planned!

Mass,

I started a thread on this in Technical a while ago but you didn't have a t/c problem at that time. Did you have the ABS fuse out and the t/c still switched itself back on?

Was it happening all the time or just when hot after pressing on? I would like to understand why this happens? (and fix it without having to disconnect the sensors at the wheels).

Clarkie,

And its happening with the 240PP variable t/c fully switched off as well?

Take care,

Frank

Frank

The ABS is back on. I always manually turn the TC off before getting onto the track (tedious). It seems the TC comes back on more after a long slide but not always.... Don't think its the heat but can't be certain.

The SLK350 I have before used to do this but with that car, it was a built in safety measure.

The only way to disable cleanly is to hold button down on the centre console until the light comes on on the dash to show it is switched off.

The problem is on the variable TC. Following the directions in the manual the car won't run clean as it is retarding the ignition from a standstill making it difficult to pull away without lots of revs. I think it gets confused with the Launch Control feature.

I raised with MMC and they said their car does the same and to try adjusting variable on the move. However sometimes tis is OK and sometimes it isn't. Can't really tell the difference with the various degrees of slip only that it is either on or off. TC is great in the wet but a pain in the dry.

Cheers

Clark

This is how we do it in our lesser cars as well. But then, it still comes back on.............

How about with your car?

Mass & Clark,

Thanks for the feedback..pretty sure it is heat related as it only happens on mine when the car/brakes are really hot... But then it's a distraction as you have to keep switching it back off 2 or 3 times during a lap. PITA cos I dont want to disconnect the sensors as I want t/c available for the road. Bet Lotus know all about it.

Anyway Mass, You wont have that problem in your new car. Looking forward to seeing it (sideways) soon?

Take care,

Frank
