Knockhill Sunday
I know Hot Hatch days aren't everyones cup of tea on here but just realised Knockhills website is saying that Sunday coming is an all day open pitlane for just £55. Im feeling Brave but would be nice to see another couple of SE'rs

Re: Knockhill Sunday
if its hot hatch then an Open Pitlane isnt restricted to numbers i dont think - not sure it will work like that.
Personally, I'd look elsewhere

Hot Hatch used to equal packed pitlane, perm queuing for maybe a couple of track sessions of 20 mins max, and dicing it with the run what ya brung brigade who increasingly were turning up in something fresh from the scrappies off a trailer, FFS.
Would not mix it with them in any car, never mind an Elise - you will surely be a moving target!
Plenty other club-organised events around to choose from I think. Avoid.

Re: Knockhill Sunday
forgot, however, when forming the Q Campbell talks of there are often frequent opprotunities to score "performance enhancers" (well is suspect some would hinder your performance) from the Hot hatch customer base
Only been once, only saw it that day - i dont think they thought anyone in the racing BM would mention it.

Re: Knockhill Sunday
Wimped out and took the 205, this was more fun than any trackday Ive been on.
Must say dont get what people are talking about regarding driving standards. There actually seem less loonies on these days than there are on the expensive ones. They just drive cheaper cars and aren't "one of the guys"
Last few, more expensive track days Ive been to were constant red flags, due to poor driving/cars too highly tuned/complete novices/driving gods. Didnt see one crash or spin all day, cant say the same for other club-organised trackdays, I seem to have spent half the day in the cafe at those.

Re: Knockhill Sunday
Watched it on the Webcam and it did not seem busy at all.
Certainly used to be, and time on track was quite limited.

Well it seems that the state of them a couple of years ago have seen an end to the melee that they used to be. No bad thing. If you knew them a couple of years ago, then you'd not be questioning the hesitation from people. They used to run lines of cones into the corners so the wee nutters in MOT fail sheds didn't go into the corners three abreast and take each other out.mikeyb13 wrote:Wimped out and took the 205, this was more fun than any trackday Ive been on.

If that's changed, then perhaps they are worth a look again. Also, your comments about some of the 'more expensive' days don't seem to tally with many I've been on - perhaps a case of bad luck...

Re: Knockhill Sunday
A turnaround indeed.
My main experience of "club" days are SIDC days which appear to uphold a standard over more than 10 years which I think even the big boys at Bookatrack or Easytrack might envy. Only been on one of the latter's mind you. Been on many an SIDC day though.
Hot Hatch days do now seem to be a different proposition than they once were, so well done KH for improving things and I'm glad you had a grand day out Mikey.
