GoPro mounting for Knockhill?

Post by lou_m » Fri Jun 01, 2012 7:28 pm

I am wanting to use my GoPro when on track at Tut Towers this year. To those who have used video cameras, what methods of mounting are acceptable and do Knockhill staff check them? I have the motorsport pack which has the suction mount and various 3M sticky pad mounts. Do the cameras have to be teathered?

Thanks.

Just have to be secured Lewis and not hand held.

just make sure that the camera is secure fastened.

I've used clamps, the 3m pads etc - with no issues.

Suction mount is the easiest to use without a relatively permanent 3M pad (i'm sure you can remove the pads, but they dont come off easily)

If your worried that the suction mount might not stick, then you can daisy chain some cable ties as a tether to something solid on the car.

Thanks for the replys. I have no doubt of the suction mounts ability to stay stuck, I just find the camera vibration is greater than when using the 3M mounts. More experimenting required!

Whatever system you were using on the road run would be best Lewis, videos were good and the track is smoother than the roads.

I use a 3m mount on the splitter of the gt3 and it works really well. As the Ape says though if in doubt get the cable ties out !
