Re: French Frolic 2022
Exact same days/times as me! I'm staying at parents near Epsom Sunday night.
On the way back I was thinking....
Sat: Gap
Sun: near Alp Huez
Mon: ?
Tues: La Clusaz
Wed: Reims
should probably start to book hotels... any suggestions?

We stopped over there in 2018 with Ali C at the start of that Frolic. There is a place to eat across the road from the hotel too.Clarkie wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 1:50 pmBooked on the 0950 shuttle on 15th, only the full price £254.00 left for the 1020 crossing!

That's me also booked into the Holiday Inn Ashford Central for 14th, I recall it was ideal for the stopover Steve.
Emovis tags are delivered really really quickly Clarkie, they were also out of stock for a couple of days before I ordered mine.
Sat: Orange - Gap with Brunch atop Ventoux...

Re: French Frolic 2022
We had a night in La Clasaz in 2015 and stayed at La Ferme. It was excellent and Stu managed to stay on a bit longer to enjoy their hospitality.
We also were in Reims, staying at Hotel Akena. Don't remember much about the hotel though but I think it did what we needed.

The Sunday is a big day but the others are manageable and have some options to shorten. I think this covers lots of big hitters and even a few in both directions...
Edited to correct an error on the Sunday (was starting from Gap so not so far) and then add a lunch stop at Col du Granon Serre Chevalier (2022 TdF Stage 11 summit finish).

Yip - that's a route. I'm not sitting here dreaming about being on that drive with you all.
We've stayed at Hotel le Barniers in Guillestre a couple of times. Scotty's find the first time. It's basic but friendly and good for parking.

I confirm "La ferme" is a nice Hotel in La Clusaz

Re: French Frolic 2022
Hi Ali,
The route looks fantastic and now it has Julien's approval I'm definitely in!
I used to stay opposite La Ferme, a good friend owned Pub Le Salto, I don't remember the rest......
He now runs the bar by the church which is supposed to be a bit calmer!
