Hi Dezzy,
Here's what it included:
25 minute briefing that includes safety, flags, overtaking etc.
3 laps in the Seats with the instructor driving to show race lines and breaking points.
Another 7 or 8 laps behind the Seat to get familiar with the track.
30 minute open session where you can put into practise what you've learned. The instructors will come out with you as well if you want more tips.
We were there for around 3 hours.
All in all, it was good fun and I learned a bit about it as well. There was only 11 cars there - should have been 12 - so there was plenty of space on the track.
I suppose once you've done it once, you wouldn't go back but it was worth the money.

OK, now that winter's coming to an end (optimism is needed) I am thinking of doing a trackday/driver training at Knockhill.
I have had a look the novice days that dezzy has at the start of this thread.
I need some tuition rather than just hurtling round the track not knowing what I'm doing, any other suggestions apart from whats already been mentioned?
The Carlimits days at North Weald airfield sound great but I cannot be bothered to drive down south, just wondering how much I will get out of a novice day.

there was a young lass that came out on the MexiTowers KH trackday, then got her fingers rapped as KH supplied an instructor. She was v. good and if there's no instructor available on a HM or Brunty evening for example, maybe gove her a call and see if she'll show you the ropes? HEr name was sarah IIRC http://www.bwrspiderweb.com (again, IIRC)
EDIT - link don't work. He name is sarah playfair, and she is a member on here

A walshy day is definitely worth the trip IMHO. Ive done two already and im going back for a third in Feb. For KH i found the Hyperformance useful to learn the lines etc but they taught me nothing with regards car control, proper steering techniques, optimum breaking, left foot breaking etc etc. YOu can learn that at any trackday day, getting a few paxs and then perhaps taking a fellow SEr out with you. SIDC also provide free instruction.

Even though I ain't done it yet, I think I agree with Ed on this one.
I'm off down south for a Walshy day at the end of March. Will then probably cadge a few more pax laps at KH at some point not long after that and actually pay attention to the lines and stuff. Will then get myself on track by the summer (waiting for insurance renewal so I can get trackday cover in policy).
If I was going to do any of the KH training thingies, it would be the hyperformance day rather than the novice day now.
