Next SIDC event at Knockhill, Saturday 19th August, 9 to 1
Well an truly hooked after my first trackday with the Elise on Saturday. It was good to meet up with fellow SE's. Thanks to Phil A for the pax laps. Was ever so slightly nervous on the first few laps when it was damp so went for some instruction early on which helped with the confidence in car.
When the track dried it was fantastic, shame about the red lights towards the end. Was just beginning to get some pace
Simon I'll get that pax the next time!
Apologies if I held any of you guys up
Cheers

NSX is my mate Simons he also has Dax Rush with 330bhp cossie turbo but poofed out bringing it because of the weather forecast. Remember the NSX is an old car now, and he said it felt too big and heavy to hustle round and not helped by a dodgy rear damper. About equal to the Exige in a straight drag up the hill...GregR wrote:Nice lapping Ali. How did that NSX get on, was it slow, warming down or just poorly driven?

Which the NSX or ExigeGregR wrote:Ali, interesting what you say about the NSX... if its an equal drag up the straight with the Exige, I think I'll be binning that as my idea for an affordable supercar!

Similar power to weight, NSX has 'only' 276 bhp and weighs 1350kgGregR wrote:Ali, interesting what you say about the NSX... if its an equal drag up the straight with the Exige, I think I'll be binning that as my idea for an affordable supercar!
= 204 bhp/tonne
Virtually the same as a standard Exige so differences are down to gearing. NSX would have the advantage above say 80mph due to extra power (and better aero?). Jamies Exige has similar power but almost 2/3 the weight...
Still a lovely looking car though, rare, classic status really and 160mph plus.

On my first trackday in my VXT (completely standard with 1500 miles on the clock then) the organiser brought his NSX along. From a slow speed corner opening on to a long straight I initially gained very slightly (more torque low down I presume). There was nothing between the cars from around 80-160kph. Above that, the extra power and much better aerodynamics resulted in the NSX pulling quite a few car lengths ahead. Terminal speed at the braking point in the NSX was bang on 200kph, my VX just nudged over 180kph.
The NSX was slower over the full lap, but only by a few car lengths. But sitting in the passenger seat listening to the engine rev to the 8500rpm limiter down the straight, who cares about a few car lengths. Awesome car!!
Sorry, speeds are in kph as it was in France and I can't do the mental arithmetic to convert back!
