2.49. I cant remember if it was dry or not?

best time by another LOT driver was 2.43 by Jamie Stanley in a N/A Honda S1.

Race 2 my best lap was 3.15 it was a bit wet, i was only 1 sec of fastest lap.

Cheers Scotty

I will check my video footage when I get a chance, looked at one or laps, and recon its about 3.06 which in the shed with 140 hp is not to bad then. what do the class 1/a cars do it in, looked on the web, but cant get into the results pdf.

 My best times from the video were around 3.16. My passenger Tam recons I was a lot faster on my final couple of sessions.

3.06 is amazing in the vx, couldnt honestly see you could have pushed it any harder. Looking forward to seeing the video of you and Neil when you were chasing him.

God that looks great fun Scotty. Nice driving :thumbsup

Wasn't refering to your time, was more surprised I was anywhere near the n/a Honda time round that terrifying place.

Followed an S1 Elise with R stickers everywhere that had a long roof, big fancy wing, diffuser and splitter for nearly two laps. Was well chuffed when I had a look and chat in the pits and it found out it was a 300 bhp Jackson

i did a 2.54 in a class A car. S1 with 160bhp with old style nitrons. Did a 2.50 in the yellow shed, but it wasnt the most stable of cars, but was awesome fun.

Jamie stanley and chris randall have done 43's, but the cars werent your average trackday spec. I actually beat jamie when he was in a class A car, not that i remind him about it every time i see him :D

Just a reminder to everybody that timing at trackdays is strictly verboten.

What's the difference between timing and having a video recording then?

you have to stop and look back your recordings. lap timing can be done there and then?

One invalidates the trackday organisers insurance...and you will be told to leave if doing it.

I think many people have reviewed back video or data after the fact and that is ok. The edges of what is acceptable are becoming blurry though with more sophisticated GPS data acquisition, predictive lap timers etc. It was relatively easy to spot if someone had a timing beacon on the pitwall...

I'd imagine the owness will be on the trackday organiser to prevent timing for their insurance so they should be checking...

For the record I'm more than concscious on the TD rules around explicit timing and I've certainly never done it. I've glanced at my watch occasionally but that's easy because I measure my progress in days or epochs anyway and I usually need to check if it's time to come in for lunch ;-)

I suppose I just find it curious that the same result can (almost) be achieved from onboard video yet, apart from the Ring (I think?) this is still allowed at tracks. Seems like a double standard, is all...

A live lap timer makes you push there and then - "I can break the 2.00.00 barrier on this lap, but I'm going to need to outbrake the guy in front into the next corner to do it.". I agree that the boundary is getting blurred and I expect that in due course track day organizers might start to restrict usage of data logging/video equipment if their insurance companies tell them to ...

Cheers,
Robin

P.S. I wonder if the real reason they ban lap timing is just that insurance companies view timing on race tracks as motorsport ....

Yep I think you're right, if people have lap deltas on their minds it's going to be carnage. And yes I think the root of it all is insurance and I wonder what this means to the source of liability in event of an incident depending on whether timing could...or could not...be proven.
