I was thinking of definitely avoiding the M62 and going south like you. I had looked at a route via Derby (passes Donington Park), Nottingham and Lincoln but there are about a million and one ways of going. :?
Does that route bring you onto the A52 just west of Derby? The trouble is you have to get by Derby and Nottingham and the A52 will be bloody busy I expect. That said, the A52 is quite quick once you've cleared Nottingham and quite nice to drive too. The problem is it brings you out quite far south of where we want to be.

I'm going to head due east over the peaks for sure. It avoids all the built up areas until Lincoln for the most part.
Yeh that's bit I know very little about, the traffic. :?

The road I looked at was the A50 from Stoke on Trent (so heading south initially) to Derby then A46 from Nottingham area to Lincoln then Lincoln to Louth. I don't really know the area at all but thought it would be nice to drive passed Donington Park (three circuits in one day? ).

It's 150 miles and 3hrs 30mins but that will depend on traffic. I guess leaving slightly later would miss some of the traffic and hopefully by the time I got to Derby it would be Ok. But as I say I don't know the area at all.

That would mean getting around Stoke, Derby, Nottingham, and Lincoln. A good route if clear. My experience of the A50 at Derby isn't great but I got caught up in Saturday football traffic after an OP (year before last I think) and Nottingham is always quite busy.

As per last year, just booked my flight over from Dublin to Manchester for this (plus hire car), so will be looking to blag some passenger laps :thumbsup

(Will chuck the GoPro and the DSLR in the bag for some snaps too).

This leads to the question, does anyone fancy yet another bum burner curry at the Cheshire Tandoori this year?

Happy to book and sort transport, as usual :)

(And again, if anyone has any other suggestions for the Thursday night, happy to go with them too).

Incidentally, was there not to be a plan for Saturday night stopover en route home?

Think there's something being mooted, but I only have a pass for Oulton, so will be flying back to Dublin straight after that :)

Good stuff

Probably book the table for 20:30, as per last year, if no objections?

Been scoping out places to stay on Sat. Not sure about a 5+ hr drive home after a nerve-jangling day at Cadwell!

Original thought had been Leeds, but weekend hotel prices escalating now.

Doncaster M18 Travelodge £29 :-). But food n beer may be a challenge!

Rotherham East IBIS £40. Now that's more like it.

I know Andy was concerned about trailer parking.

But anyone else interested in a stopover Sat night?

If not I'll just make my own plan. Might book a flex rate and cancel if feeling ok...

Right, I've got a crazy month ahead so have made a flex booking at IBIS Rotherham East. Cancel by 2pm on the day.

Plan for dinner on the Friday night? Who else is at The Beaumont apart from me roomie, Pete?

Hi Campbell

At the Beaumont as well, cant wait to check out the "Cocktail Bar". For some reason, I have this image of Alex PolIzzi and her camera crew being there as well

My plan is to head up the road after the track day, but will see what the weather is like.

Probably book the table for 20:30, as per last year, with the first dry line at the curcuit in the morning, being to the toilet
