I've also just booked up yesterday, paid by Visa. (medium pikey faction) :)

Need to wait until nearer the time to see if I'll actually manage to go!

Well that's the decider then :D .

I have just been looking at the tunnel options as last year I let Paul book this, but I seem to recall reading that if you book two overnight return trips it works out cheaper. Sure enough if you book just a normal return trip it is £122, but if you book two lots of same day or overnight returns it is £22 for each leg i.e. total cost of £88.

Is there flaw in this cunning plan? Are Eurotunnel likely to be upset because you have missed one leg of the journey (twice!)?

Cheers

I think the way to make that work is to give one of the addresses as a hotel/address in france! :thumbsup

You are not meant to do that, but I've done it a few times without penalty. I tend to use Katie's credit card for booking the second pair so it's in a different name/different card. Just remember to always go through the automated check in service where you just enter your code into the touch screen and it prints out the bording pass. Oh and it goes without saying, don't enter your registration number into the booking ... it's optional and can only serve to let them correlate your bookings ;-)

For shorter journeys (3-4 days) depending on the date/time of travel a 3- or 4-day saver can be cheaper than 4x22, but for any longer the 4x22 is always cheaper.

Cheers,
Robin

P.S. There is no reason to enter an address in France for either journey - they don't care which country you live in or where you start your journey from - I've always booked it with UK address.

I've always done it on the same credit card and had no problems.

Golding books hundreds of crossings each year from both sides of the tunnel and doesnt have any problems.

Obviously goes without saying that you have to turn up for the first leg of the crossing, and miss the 2nd leg, so your 'homeward' journey has to start in france and finish in england, then you miss the 2nd leg, the england to france bit.

Yeah, though Golding does also use different credit cards for the different legs ... I'm sure it makes sod all difference though!
