If it was a Novice Marques track day on the other hand….
Should have no fears about these - usually small numbers take part and plenty of instruction available. No resemblance to Hot Hatches!

Aw crap I don't know what to do now.
Was pretty set on doing the afternoon session with SIDC...but as it would be my first track day perhaps this morning thing is a better idea...
Any advice? Should I go with the other newbies (am also concerned about a bunch of crap drivers in crap cars bashing up me loverly new Liz...) or should I just jump straight into the SIDC afternoon?

If you are torn between the two, go for the SIDC day. Many of us will be there, and you will be well looked after.
If my teenage son and daughter can hack it shortly after passing their tests, in a LHD S/C Honda Elise, then you will have no problem.
The SIDC days, obviously along with tuttowers years, are probably the best and safest group of cars that you will go on with.

I have been looking for an opportunity to get on track for the first time and this will be it!
A few of you recommend the SIDC day as a better start but as that is now fully booked and I don't have much of a scooby (pun intended) about track day etiquette, this novice day will do the job nicely!

Booked
Do they offer insurance at KH on the day or do I need to get it beforehand? My own insurer won't do it.

Try Moris or CCI for insurance KH dont do it.
You certainly shouldnt need it for a novice day.

If one or the other i would go for the SIDC day as the novice day i think only gives you 1/2hour of actual track time
The SIDC days are good and you don't get many if any twatish driving
Just let John know you are a novice and you can go round on the back of one of the warm up groups
I still think John should consider 1 more warm up session for newbies where a few experienced drivers can go out to show the way. Once you have done a few laps it is alot less scarey

More than happy to accomodate newbies with their own warm up group at future events if there's interest ?
All I need to know is if it's the first time you have done a track event, as most people don't tell me in advance and I have to guess
