You have to be careful because KH could be genuinly being charged more and having to pass it onto the customer as any good business does...

... that said I think its a load of sh*t! :D

Howcome Hot Marques and private club prices go up year after year and yet the Hot Hatch days stay at £40. Ill tell you why because most people are a bunch of mugs. If you can afford your elise/evo/caterham in the first place then whats another tenner out your wallet?

Knockhill have gradually creeped up to the sort of prices you are being charged down South. Technically this is their competition although really they dont have any competition - not in Scotland.

If you book early you can pickup deals at great tracks down South for around £100 sometimes slightly less sometimes more. At some tracks you pay slightly more anyway but its for a full day. For example Croft is £160.

Anyway, I type all this, people will moan but pay it anyway and guess what will happen next year... so why bother?

Shame though - all its means is people go to KH less - its not like they can justify charging the prices they do down south given the enormous gulf in facilities.

That has cost me £180 for the event, £30 to join LoT, it will cost me £60 for fuel there an back and £60 for 2 nights accommodation. That is a total of £330 and doesn't take into consideration fuel for the event itself not to mention a day off work.

£100 for KH (for me) still seems pretty good value and is only down the road.
Remove the geography and looking at the comparisons.

KH for 4 hours = £100

Donington full day = £160

Dont know if you have been to Donington before or not but if you havent the instant you drive through the gate, through the massive paddock past proper facilties (not cow sheds) and into our own, thats your own, not shared, not at any extra cost, covered and lit pit garage you cant help but think what a fckin mickey mouse circuit KH is in comparison.

I get nippy with the best of them when people belittle oor wee local circuit, I love having it on our doorstep and can overlook it lack of facilities but sometimes they really rip this piss out of us. Classic example right there with charging paxes.

Ed and Kenny
Very valid points which I think probably confirm that KH would not be putting up their prices if they didn't need to.
I agree about the sh1te driving standards at HM and I will only do club days as that is what my insurance covers me for.
I am not trying to stick up for KH but I do think that it is very easy to criticise price increases without looking at why they might be doing it.
Daveb is possibly right though, they may just think that we are mugs and will continue to take the increases on the chin.
Time will tell as punters have a habit of voting with their feet.

Oh and Ed, I thought you lived in Edinburgh :scratch . Have you decided to return to the ancestral pile?

Good luck with the move (and new job?)

Charging for pax rides is deplorable. The most enjoyment I get is taking someone out on track for the first time: first seeing their nerves jangle as I drive up the pit-lane , then seeing them dissapear after a lap or so and gradually turning into that big grin.

Take that away and then it becomes very boring indeed. I just hope this won't apply to SIDC days.
