Re: Lotus instruction in Scotland
Hi folks,
Great to see such a welcome response to the idea of being trained by me. I don't think i have made myself very clear unfortunately.
The reason that Walshy doesn't do training days in Scotland is due to a lack of a suitable venue. I'd be in exactly the same situation, plus i dont want to step on Walshy's toes in that area either, as i think he is one of the best coaches around for on limit car control training.
What I was proposing was circuit based training. Not sure in what format just yet, i was really hoping you guys could tell me. There is 2 formats that seem popular. The first is the 20 quid for 20 minutes style, (don't worry, I'm not charging that much) where you have to try and impart as much as possibly into a short amount of time. I prefer the other type, where a trackday is split between 3 or 4 people, and the time divided up into 15 or 20 minute sessions, on a rolling basis, so you get taught a little bit, then have time to practise, then get taught a little more.
Where i think i can be different is focusing more on the technique side of circuit driving, as opposed to just teaching the braking and apex points. If your just taught how to drive one circuit, thats all you'll ever know, but if your taught the tools of circuit driving, you can teach yourself every circuit you ever visit.
Let me know what you think, all comments appreciated.
Neil

Re: Lotus instruction in Scotland
Sorry mate - thought you meant car control stylee.
I'm sure at this SIDC especially there are a good few newbies who'd welcome your assistance in such a fashion
Might be worth investigating if there was an airfield stylee thing available though, as i suspect the majority of people would really welcome a chance to find the limits, with a safe pair of hands on board, which isn't all easy on trackdays
Either way, can't see it failing to attract customers/business/interest

Good luck with this one Neil, I think you would get a good uptake on trackdays from some of the newbies, and maybe even some of the oldies like me, we all need new bad habits to learn!!!

Like i say, i'm not thinking of this as a business venture (well, certainly not amongst SE'rs) more as a way of giving something back, and a way of getting to events, whilst covering my costs, IYSWIM
