It's 300km = 3 hours assuming you stop for fuel and allowing for the heavy motorway traffic in Holland. You need to be back at Ijmuiden for 16:00 IIRC.

Would have to sell the Elise to fund it though ;-)

Hoping to do a budget trip to the Ring next year though...reckon my last one cost a few hundred pounds at most.

I'm sure it could be done on a budget, but the car bits of the trip are still expensive. I like to drive it quickly, so thats always going to cost me a bit more

This one neednt be especially expensive. I always find its the car parts that are expensive. Some people dont include them in there holiday budget, but i do. Its a false economy otherwise

It's funny how the passage of time makes you forget about all the biker (donors) deaths on busy public days

I am up for a trip in October and will consider anything interesting..... from the one night away to Oulton/Anglesey/Croft/Cadwell.....to the longer tour to Spa/Zandvoort/Ring

I would watch an Oulton / Cadwell sortie in Oct with greater interest...maybe a little more within reach!

Have now had a look at the options and I am leaning towards taking the Newcastle ferry over on the Saturday night spend Sunday afternoon at the Ring then head over to Spa for the two days. I would then leave early to head to Zeebrugge to get the 2100hrs ferry into Hull. This would mean I would not have to take the Thursday off as well and gives me max time at Spa 8)

I'm really only interested because of doing Spa at the same time. As I said, the ring will be rubbish if it's a weekend, but would go for nostalgia's sake and see if I can remember which way round it goes. Also, those Lama aren't getting any younger - leave it too long and it might be too late!!

Cheers,
Robin

Let's just fly to the ring, rent a cheap car, spend all the cash on Lama and Amaretto? If we happen to make a couple of laps in the hire car, it's a bonus :-)

Ill be at spa on the autotrack days. So see you guys there if you come. I absolutely love spa. Disneyland for petrol heads!

Last year we went to the ring on the sunday. Absolute nightmare. 40 mins to get into the overspill carpark and another 40 to get onto the track. The track was far too busy to enjoy it. 3 stoppages for an hour. Looks like some Germans would be recieving nice new body parts the next day. The year before we went to the ring on monday. Lovely and quiet.

I wish my fuel bill was as modest. I only ever manage somewhere in the teens on fast road journeys and about 6mpg on track.
