Just off to work now but have been involved in setting up charity events for years and am used to trying to get raffle prizes.

Secret is to go big! Go straight to the top!

Will contact Jezza and the Top Gear Team and Fifth Gear and see what I can do - might get some signed goodies to raffle or something....if anyone else can donate I don't mind running the raffle on the day. See if we can get some bottles too..

Maybe Knockhill could donate something too??????

I met a guy on the plane to London last week who does PR for motorsport. He's done events with Rio Prestige and does PR for rally drivers, etc. I got his business card so will give him a call to see if he might be interested in doing something for this.

Cheers Dezzy,

Anything that gets more exposure, prizes or simple cold, hard cash - all appreciated. The Charity is a great one and their really excited about it - not their usual thing and everything that's out of the ordinary creates more interest.

Would need to restrict it to my close mates obviously as I don't want just anyone driving the car! But think this might help generate extra cash.

Would this be okay? Would they just need to come to the driver briefing?

D
I was thinking the same. Not sure if people would pay money to come out with me :D

Would it not be easier just to charge pax £10 per head on the day?

We don't want to make it less of an event to make the money - would kill the feel of it. Everything is optional (barring the initial donation, of course) we just want it to be a fun day - if that happens, the money will roll in anyway :thumbsup

Page set up: http://www.justgiving.com/derekcharitytrackday

I'm offering passenger rides to anyone for £5 (or more) but the chance to drive my car round the track for the highest donation is only open to my close friends and family (just can't have any random driving the car!). Will hopefully entice some of my friends to make big donations :thumbsup

Wondered why you'd left your camera stuff and helmet at my house for so long!

Hope you are having a good one :thumbsup
