If I still had a Superbike I would have been on track like a shot. Granted I have more experience than Neil from my Motocross racing, but the first bike that I owned on the road was when I was 37, and was an 850/1000cc Guzzi, just about the ultimate then.

Don't see the difference from treating it like your first time on track with an Elise, take it easy to start with and build up gradually. Respect your bike, the track and your own abilities or lack of, and you can have fun and stay safe. A bloody site more than on the road with idiots trying to kill you.

ps plus trying to tell the Ape not to do something is a waste of breath.

Dunno if the Ron Haslam school still runs at Donnie these days :?: but well worth considering that too, Neil :thumbsup

IIRC they supply the bikes, so getting there could be a tin-top/135R journey if desired.

i did plan to do the ron haslam course, or the california superbike school, but i was going to get some experience myself first, so i got more from the training.

I havent actually booke this yet, i will wait and see how i progress on the roads in the next 2 weeks, but this is giving me something to aim for

Great fun, I have done a couple of novice ones,on the 1200GS, and have got on OK. Not sure I would be happy on a full blooded trackday, but on a novice one you don't feel intimidated, and can go at your own pace.

Mind you, if Mcape is as wild as he was in the Elise, it could be an interesting night!! :thumbsup

Re: novice bike tracknight - 14th of July - BOOKED

Post by mckeann » Sat Jul 11, 2009 2:24 pm

I had hung off from booking for a couple of reasons. Firstly, to see how i progressed on the road from beginner to biker, and secondly, to see what the weather was going to do. I didnt fancy a wet trackday for my first time.

Anyway, i have progressed quite well so far on the road, and they had only had 3 spaces left, so i decided to bite the bullet and get it booked. Forecast at the moment is looking favourable, but decided already to JFDI even if its wet.

If anybody secretly (or even blatantly) wants to see me struggle on a race track, tuesday night is probably your best chance, so hope to see a few of the biker bods up cheering me on. Just a shame i cant do pax laps
