Graham,

If you could email high res copies of numbers 27 and 152 to mark@cliff-tech.co.uk that would be great.

Thanks,

Yep,

I'm the one that was interested in getting a Honda BEFORE I got in yours...now I'm completely and utterly convinced!

Insurance have written off my 111s so hopefully gonna buy back the salvage and repair myself (only needs a rear clam and repair to the front clam) and use the leftover to convert.

I'd recommend Sinclaires of london to do the conversion. By all means drive their car and Maidstone sports cars demo car, but the gearchange and vibration are better on sinclaires IMHO.

Its alot of money to spend on the car, but it does transform it into a total machine. Of course, I'd also say to spend a bit of money on a few walshy days first, as thats probably as much the reason you enjoyed the laps than the honda.

I've had my 111s for 4 years now and done a couple of Walshy days at Crail during that time but still LOTS of room for improvement

My last track day at Knockhill was just over a year ago (had to take a year out from spending all my money on the car) and everyone seems a lot faster than before. I'm hoping a lot of this has to do with the resurfacing (and the fact that almost everyone seems to be running AO48's or the like) but I suppose it's like everything else...the more you do it, the better you get.

Your driving is a great advert for Walshy though and agreed, had a lot to do with the grin factor....although the Honda was the icing on the cake! I just need to get back on the road and more importantly back on track. Friday highlighted just how much I've been missing it.

Hopefully I can go the Honda route and if I'm in a position where it looks like it could be a goer then I wouldn't mind having a more in-depth chat with you before I take the plunge.

Neil, as a slight tangent - I believe there's a guy on Exiges.com currently engineering a higher flow pump to fit in tank (unlike any of the conversions) This would be a better bet than one pump filling a swirl pot and another pump supplying from that. Lighter and more reliable (I'm never sure about a swirl pot sitting in the engine bay.)

Yes, it's Gaz, and he's in the TT group as well.
Was going to come but broke a leg :(

Below part of the email he sent me, his pump was actually developed for the Honda conversion, but of course it would work with any high powered engine:
Attached are pictures of the new pump unit. i have included part of a mail sent to Ian Wilson this morning to save having to write it all again!

Just to confirm Ian
The new unit uses a venturi pump, powered directly from the pump outlet to suck filtered fuel from the tank into the can. it is then sucked from the can through the pump foot filter into the pump and into the system.
Any returns drain back into the can to keep the can topped up when fuel is low and no longer fed from the tank.

This is not my fantastic invention but standard AC unit setup, the only differences being ours uses a collection of plastic can bits that match the size required for the Elise as most units are between 5 and 20cm taller.
The unit has had no work done to it except exchanging compatible components, the fuel level sender unit for example comes in about 20 different values, 0-100 ohms, 20-250, 35-85 ohms etc.

No drilling, no filing, no sawing etc, just "click"
The only downside is some of these bits are no longer made and it's likely I will only be able to construct about 200 units total, but we are working on it :)

If you had gone to AC seven years ago and said I want 4000 pump units of this size and spec they may well have supplied you with units constructed from exactly the same components! ............. without the uprated pump though.

I will probably in time be able to machine from Delrin most of the components I need to duplicate these units, then I can re-furbish the original units with this suction system and also fit a variety of new pumps, filters, seals etc.
That's why the units are only offered on exchange.

Give him a call :)
