Great day out although weather at the start was a bit disappointing but gives people the chance to see what the cars like in wet. Thanks to Tut for the pax was a lot of fun especially watching how to correct understeer by no hands hahaha was very interesting. Thanks to Mass for taking me out aswell, I paid more attention this time to breaking points and lines etc which should help me when I eventually get mine on track :thumbsup

Mass/Frank Ill keep you updated with the new map as regards driveabilty, I should have it installed by the end of next week with the new manifold. Never realised we had so many S owners on the forum or Id have posted about the upgrades and have at least tried to give a write up on the performance change.
Cheers Craig.

Yep, keep us informed.

I know at least you, Frank, Merlin, John (xcl) and I have the 220 SC, Clarkie and George (GDR) have the current 240 SC, Robbie and Scottie have the 240 Cup/R. I don't know if he is on the forum but I have seen an Orange 255 Cup at KH as well.

So we will be waiting for your posts with interests!

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

I think I spoke to the guy with the 255 earlier this year at KH, can't remember when though. Think his name was Dennis, but could be wrong.

Epic, epic, epic day....

Been far too long since I've had some proper track action and I wasn't as rusty as I'd feared I'd be. The bloody car's no quicker in a straight line though - the exit from Clarks is still a total PITA with the standard box... Reasonably pleased with my pace elsewhere though. I think I've got to the limit of what trial and error will teach me, time to visit the Walshy methinks...

Many thanks to Andy ('twas my birthday pressie from work) and also for the wee shotty in the Atom. That thing is just bloody brutal. The belts dind't go tight enough to hug my racing-snake frame, so I was rattling about a bit - to the point that I've got a fine collection of bruises on my back. Promised myself I wouldn't granny it round the track though (plus the car would think it'd died or something if its neck wasn't wrung) It's an impressive tool - totally honest, no vices. If you want it to slide, you press the pedal - anywhere, any gear. I ended up taking the hairpin in 3rd, plenty of torque to get the back moving and in 2nd, you come out of the hairpin and it headbutts the limiter almost straight away! Of course, there came the point where my talent ran out as the same time as the steering lock and my showboating at the hairpin ended up with me facing backwards (still on the tarmac) Didn't want to try spin turning somebody elses car in traffic, so quickly tried a U turn, to discover the limited lock put me in the gravel on the outside... Gladly, it was pretty hard packed with the rain and it just skated happily over the surface.

Cheers again bud - mental fun. Hope the paxes I took out enjoyed their day also and have to echo the comments about the great etiquette. Even the TVR was good - perhaps he saw the state of my car and didn't fancy mixing it with his 'detailed' paintwork ;)

Greeeaaat Day again, thanks John,

That's my third trackday and first, (but probably not last), spin off the track...Wow, does that happen quick, & I was really surprised at how far I travelled, although I suspect the wet track had a lot to do with that. Once the track dried up a bit, the car could get some heat into the tyres, and I could gain a bit more confidence again, altho I was determined not to go in the gravel pit again, and took it fairly easy. I think I might start going along to other trackdays now, to get more experience, I really feel that I could do with some good instruction as well...just to get me thro those bends quicker. I might try to get along to the dreadnought day in July...anyone else going up..?

Cheers,
Pete :thumbsup

Ive heard watch out on these days they are a bit more aggresive and not as much manners on track, I think???? :?

When its just the lotus or SIDC days I think its much more well behaved and low chance of your car being damaged :D

Just something to think about

Yep, good point...but I don't think I can wait to the 30th Aug for the next SIDC day...surely the Hot Marques days are ok..? I mean it's still Knockhill Marshalls, & I imagine there will be a lot of the same guys going to these days that go to the SIDC days..?

Cheers,
Pete :thumbsup

They're fine. Yeah, probably not the immaculate etiquette of SIDC, but nothing lairy. Can be a few cars out (Rage buggies) who can be a PITA to pass, but best to apply the "drive through the pits" technique if you get held up too long.

LOL..drive through the pits...sounds like a good shortcut. :damnfunny

Seriously Guys, I don't want to have a shunt in the car, but I would really like to get more experience on the track...Is anyone else going up to the Hot Marque, Sat 19th..?

Cheers,
Pete :thumbsup

 not thought about it like that! The usual way to do it is trundle down the pitlane and sit at the end, getting you back out in clear track - or at least in different traffic.
