Great trip away, thanks to all those who gave me a shot of there cars.

970+ miles with the van and trailer :thumbsup its clutch started to play up coming into Perth but it got us home.

Was a bit broken yesterday and had to paint the dressing room and the bedroom with 2 coats paint as the decorator is coming to paper and paint the skirtings and facings tomorrow. Glad to be back at work for a break.

Echo all the comments above - cracking trip but was totally knackered by the time i got home on Saturday

Unfortunately I went a bit hard on the booze on Thursday and Friday nights so was struggling on track both days - i blame Mr G for taking me out in the GT3 at Oulton and my car at Anglesey and making me feel very queasy both days :puke

The banter as always was quality and was in stiches most of the weekend - roll on the next one, but will try and get more laps in as i think other people did more laps in my car than i did

Apologies Benny!

Cracking trip - thank god we've some time to recover before the next one....still shattered.

Some tremendous banter, and another memorable couple of days monkeying around.

We literally chased the rain heading home, but once we'd finished the run east to the M6, it stopped raining and we out-ran the incoming storm north :thumbsup

New tyres didnt arrive in time before the trip, so delaminating the rear tyre trying my new scandinavian flick approach to the cork screw ended my day at Anglesey

:cheers

Should also add a big :thumbsup to Jo, Pete and the LOT team for once again showing why they are the best trackday organisation in the UK. Some plans for some SE targeted trips in 2013 may follow shortly

Agreed but we need to negotiate a Goldingesque briefing for the SE boys. ;)

Upon relating to her the haphazard arrival of variously worse for wear track gods on Saturday morning, Lisa asked me the obvious question :

"why don't you lot book your big night out for AFTER the track action is all finished?!"

Hmm....

I was tucked up in bed at a semi reasonable hour hence up like a spaniel and raring to go at 0630 (much to Scotty's still drunken annoyance!). On Frolics etc it's always been a balance between last in the bar and ability to function the next day. I don't like to miss track time but the Payne bros afternoon briefings are legendary. :D

The Golding style briefings is more for duration rather than starting time. :tired

Edited Highlights to protect the not so innocent and hopefully avoid litigation

Set off for Cheshire at 1830 on Thursday evening
Arrived at 2115 to find Kinger and Son in the bar surrounded by MILF’S who were there en masse for a Pub Quiz. The wider SE contingent had disappeared for their Cheshire Tandoori colonic irrigation session.
A few drinks later they returned stinking of curry with certain individuals sporting a “far away look”!
Early to bed……….well that’s a lie…………….more drinks/rounds of shots…………..then off to bed

Up bright and early for breakfast and briefing at Oulton and onto the track around 0930
A tad greasy in certain areas but no snow and the prospect of a bright and cold sunny day.

One SE member managed one lap …plus the warm up laps…….. before his car expired in a cloud of smoke.
Certain other SE stalwarts were joining in the spirit of things by spinning off backwards and grass – cutting the verges!
Stu satisfied his "Another Day-Another Garage" fetish by changing a boken drive shaft in the 211
I burnt over one and a half tanks of fuel in the Coxster throughout the day, returning a very respectful 11mpg!
(Scotty Savile and Malcolm were abusing the Coxster as well!)
The driving standard was of a good quality and the track very rarely got busy with Elise processions
Andy G was probably the quickest on track alongside a lovely GT3RS on slicks.........although Ali and Stu may beg to differ with their track biased road cars :D
The breakaway faction left Oulton late afternoon for Anglesey spurned on by the prospect of bracing seaside vistas and the cultural appeal of the Georgian facades of Beaumaris.
Arrived at hotel and got stuck right in at the bar!
Moved through to the palatial residents lounge and took over the seating area in front of the open fire and drank some more………
More of the same when we moved through to the Bistro for a steak supper....... where the more refined SE palates started on a vat of red wine
A courting couple has the misfortune to be sat next to us in the Bistro and disappeared soon after we sat down.
They left half a bottle of champagne on the table……….which was duly swiped and poured into a tumbler on our table…………Only for the couple to return and sit down. (They had been outside for a smoke). The gallant lad (obviously on for a shag) ordered another bottle whilst we sat sniggering like schoolboys
At the end of the meal we retired to the residents lounge for some post prandial action
Scotty Savile disappeared to the Mystery Machine and brought back a bottle of Amaretto an a bottle of Drambuie
Kinger’s son appeared with tumblers and a bucket of ice from the bar ………and we got stuck in again!
The hotel staff seemed to be very grateful that we had our own supply line and were not going to keep them up all night .
Some hours past and all but two of the SE team retired to bed. The two in question preferred the comfort of the sofas in the lounge in preference to attempting the staircase and finding their rooms

Next morning, the consensus was that we waited for an 0800 breakfast in an effort to appease our tired heads.
Scotty and Ali had left at daylight and headed for the circuit.
The remainder arrived in dribs and drabs to sleep/sh*t/fart their way through the morning session.
The Anglesey track was reasonable fun ……….. but I felt it very “M. Mouse” in comparison to Oulton. (To be fair, the last time I was there was eons ago and I had my Brother In Law’s Caterham Superlight which was more suited to the twists and turns)
Half a tanks worth of fuel took me to lunchtime……… and a strategic decision was made to head home in advance of the forthcoming storm.
My tyres were now shedding strips of rubber and I had a longstanding dinner party engagement to attend in Crieff

Quick blat up the road and home at 1800 hours

Good Trip
Great company
Much Merriment
And some driving as well on the best circuit in UK FFS!!
What's not to like?

:cheers

Nice review Herr Boag. :damnfunny

The GT3RS (and Mugen Atom) were getting lapped in the morning, the RS was considerably quicker in the afternoon on slicks but I think Stu still overtook him while nursing driveshafts? I'd just got on it's chuff when Kinger stopped for his red flag picnic at Knickerbrook...

Can't better Boag's review. Comedy gold. And the bits he missed from the conservative crew's experiences of the weekend are clearly of very little note.

I have, however, compiled a small video of the adventure. Thankfully there are no driver interviews, no embarrassing stills (other than one of Scotty just out of bed around 10am) and no off-road excursions to be seen. I can, however, be seen passing a few people. On their slowing down laps :damnfunny

If I can find enough space on my Picasaweb account, I'll share it from there once I've cut a low-bandwidth version. Alternatively, anyone got experience of hosting via a YouTube private channel or similar? Or there is always my DropBox public folder I guess...

It will be fun to discuss my choice of lines, at any rate ;-)
