Kevin

There is a thread on LoT from Claude with details of the hotels. I booked the hotels separately on my first FF and it worked out fine.

If you can get the tracks booked accomodation is the easy part as I'm sure you'll easily get somewhere to kip with the folks that are going. Go for it. :thumbsup

I will need to check with Golding as i might have a double room
Thanks guys - sounds like a plan!

I'm still awaiting a response from Paul G, Akira / Gilles and The Knob. :? ( I'm beginning to wonder if my LOT U2U account is not functioning )

If I can get the trackdays booked I'll look into booking my own accommodation - sounds like I'll at least have a floor ( or camper van ) to sleep in if I'm stuck :thumbsup

Scotty - if you're speaking to Paul Golding could you ask him if he stills has the trackdays available?

think Scotty is now in transit. He'll most likely see PAul this weekend, but you might be better to give him a quick call, given he's got Snett on this weekend.

Either way I'm sure we can dodge you in :thumbsup

Paul enjoys the fact that we have such a huge Scots contingent, who are typically the maddest, with our Welshman in tow :damnfunny :thumbsup

Roll on TT, then next weekend :thumbsup :cheers

Scotty tells me that he's spoken to Paul Golding and that the track days will be available - so looks like I'll be coming with you :D

Now just got to

- Survive Tut Towers
- Remove clam / Fix radiator fan
- Get new tyres
- Book channel crossing
- Book accomodation
- Steal Pete Corrieri's peage transponder
- Speak to insurance company
- Pacify wife

..... plus everything else that I've forgotten!

Any thoughts on tyre choice ?
- Ronnie can't get Yoko 48s but should be able to source either Toyo R888s and Toyo R1-Rs

Sounds like tyre life may be an issue but which is the best option. From what I've read on SELOC the R1-Rs have a slightly harder compound - but it looks like they have more tread blocks to move around so may chew up more readily if it's hot (?)

I put new 048s on just before last year's trip and only just replaced the rears before heading to see the welshman last month. I think I did about 7k with them which was 3k on FF including 4 warm track days - obviously I am a woose(?) on track :D There was nearly 4mm left on the outside of the tyres but past the wear indicators in the middle. I generally run them at 23psi but think I will go lower for this trip to see if I can avoid wearing in the middle.

I have just tonight put my brand new 048s in the rear and will be using the 048s that were new for FF last year again on this trip.

Not too sure about 888s. The used set I bought didn't seem to like my treatment at North Weald :D (I now have 2 sets of wheels :thumbsup )

I'm not sure there is a huge amount in it between 888 and 048 - but the 888s we fitted last year were unbelievably good in torrential downpour on mountain roads at the start of last year's FF - OK, they were brand new tyres, but they worked very well.

The 48's fitted to the new chariot (Exige S I bought on Thursday) won't last the trip judging by last night's wear rates. So I think I'll get the set of 888 that I bought from Ronnie fitted and keep what's left of the 048s to put back on later on.

Not long now ...

Cheers,
Robin

The new set of R888 was on my door step when I got back home from the TT track session yesterday. The Kumho tyres are so sticky but they get really hot and wear out quickly. Fast but not much fun as it's difficult (almost impossible) to get it drifting. I think I'll have more fun with the R888

Robin, nice Exige! Love the colours. Looking forward to chasing you in France :thumbsup
