Can't say fairer than that. As long as you do not mind your car being driven at Miss Daisy pace.

Euan that is amazingly kind of you. I'll have a chat with Laura and see if I can get a weekend pass. Sure I can sort some petrol money etc.Gooldie wrote:roadboy wrote:I really really want to do this but just don't think that:

For those looking for accomadation for this I can highly recommend Hotel de la source which is 100m away from la source corner and 20m away from the track entrance. My m8's stayed there when we were over at the beginning of October. It has F1 cars in the foyer, a wall in the pool table area signed by racing drivers that have stayed, its own bar/restaurant and rooms have a view of the circuit. The cost was 110 euro per night for a twin room. Superb value imo.

Robbing twats.....
Just went online to get three days European cover for Spa. £83 with P&L, £53 without.
Phone call tomorrow. How have the rest of you gone on?

Yeah, but all powerful as he is, he will still not get you home on a low loader if, Allah be praised, you should break down.

I think those figures are the same as the ones I've found. At £53, I'm probably OK with it to be honest.
I'm sure as a card-carrying blue badge holder you can convince them to take something more off for you?!
I haven't finalised my cover yet though, just in case my insurer can do something better. Unlikely though. (Admiral) Ringing them tomorrow to notify of impending European invasion tactics, so we'll see...

Just been assessing Euro breakdown cover, Euro insurance and compulsory items to carry in the car.
Useful AA document here.
Summary seems to be:
Hi-vis jacket
Warning triangle
V5
Insurance docs
Headlamp beam deflection
Not mandatory but mentioned:
First Aid kit
Bulb kit
Don't rely on my list above as authoritative - check out the AA doc etc for yourself.

GB sticker nowadays?, though some numberplates now have the Euro logo on them.

According to the notes on the PDF, or is it somewhere else on AA site, can't recall...compliant euro-symbol number plates are fine.

Wish I could join you guys
.
We've been down here for about 3 weeks total and haven't used a GB sticker. I bought a magnetic one at the tunnel terminal the first time but discovered (on the train) that the tailgate on the Volvo is aluminium and it didn't stick
. I've also seen a few other british cars out here with no sticker or plate.
We have fitted bulb deflectors, and have a warning triangle, bulbs, and a first aid kit (Volvo has a v. handy cubbyhole under the boot floor - jumpleads/inspection light/umbrella/toolkit etc also hidden under there), but I think the only thing the Gendarmes really care about is the high-vis jacket (which needs to be within reach of the driver sitting in the seat).
However, being a Volvo driver I obviously love that sort of cack. On a trip like this though I'd prob. only be arsed with the high-vis jacket (although to be fair I had a GB plate on the back of the Elise and a warning triangle hidden behind the seats).

I bought a high vis jacket for last years trip and forgot to take it.
Probably a good idea at this time of year though.
Got stopped by the Gendarme the year before and all they cared about was getting their speeding money.
I have the Isle of Man flag on my plates.
Not long to go now.
