Would have liked the chance Campbell, very rarely do I get a clash of putting family first.campbell wrote:Tut would have dick'd im.

Sounds like the usual S_E cracking weekend, seem to be missing more of them than I used to though which is a shame.

Fantastic trip as always. Great company and great track action. Oulton Park was, as always, fantastic. I also really loved Anglesey and was having a hooligan ball of a time. Apologies for spinning at the cork screw (cool down lap too lol) Not something I do very often!
I had a nightmare journey home. The reason I was crawling along the dual carriageway when you guys passed me was simply because I was on fumes. When I left the track I had one full bar left so plenty to get me to the nearest petrol station. The minute I hit the dual carriegway the bar disappeared so was left wondering how much fuel I really had. Hence the crawling along tickling the throttle. I eventually conked out just 100 yards shy of the petrol station which was fortunate. Anyway, filled up and headed off into Bangor to get flowers for Ashley. Some dosy bint in a Micra pulled out in front of me from her parking space, I hit the brakes and nothing much happened apart from the tell tale horrible metallic grinding sound of no pad material left. Fortunately there was a car park immediately to my left so took avoiding action and ducked in there. The outer pads were perfectly fine with plenty of meat left on them which I had been checking after every session. I did have a spare set of pads with me too but no tools and couldn't find an open garage. Not much I could do as I was 173 miles from Ashley's and a further 100 miles to my house. I drove most of the 173 miles without touching the brake pedal and quickly go into a routine of timing my stops by lifting off, changing down through the gears and the hand brake for the last few feet. It also absolutely pissed down all the way back as I hit the M6.

Ah, a classic elise journey - the reason they do this is to give you something to think about on the way home - if they didn't give you problems to manage you would be bored

Kelvin.
I had 2 sets of part-worns in my toolset
Sheesh. As you used to say!
sorry to hear of the nightmare but, as ever, a sterling job to recover victory from the jaws of defeat...

Pleased to hear you got back safely kelvin. I was worried about my tyre the entire way home...
Robin not sure I agree. In the GT3 which has some of the best headlights I've ever used, I sailed home chilling, listening to tunes and getting 32mpg. A bit too heavy for Anglesey, but nearly the perfect road/track car. Love Bennys SC too. Magic fun and open air. Mr B's coxster is looking more and more of a bargain with every trip we do!!!

Robin not sure I agree. ...
I was referring to Kelvin's Elise woes .. not that the trip was only suitable for Elises but rather that his trip in his Elise was a classic Elise trip, full of breakdown potential to be managed
I love driving Egor but if you asked me which car to take to London and back I would jump in the 330D, your GT3 or the Boagster long before I got Egor out of her kennel
Cheers,
Robin

Re: LoT November 23/24 2012 Oulton Park/Anglesey Coastal
I think this could be arranged...albeit you may need to be pax for Boagster or The Gordon boy...whilst I pilot egor to your required destination. My iPod and Sennheisers made for great company last weekend and an asily be pressed into action again on demand...robin wrote: If I could drive one of those to the track, Egor on the track, then go home in the nice car again, I would

Or drive a 211 on track then snooze in the pax seat of a lovely warm van all the way home...robin wrote: I love driving Egor but if you asked me which car to take to London and back I would jump in the 330D, your GT3 or the Boagster long before I got Egor out of her kennelIf I could drive one of those to the track, Egor on the track, then go home in the nice car again, I would
