I think I proved to Gareth (while driving his car) that it would be possible to hit the one at MacIntyres at least. ;)
You just need to be on limit before the apex and then over cook it a bit...we of course just drifted nicely all the way round. :D

Same applies at Clark...I never back it into the Chicane though. :)

Yes, it was a heart stopping moment.... :P
After that Ali, I had a broadside coming down Duffus with my Dad in the car. Tried to take Duffus like I take it in the 135R (accelerating right through it before braking for McIntyres). Ran out of grip. Luckly it held but I could of easily hit the tyres on McIntyres.

OK, so if you lose control of your car on a race track you're going to run the chance that you might hit something ... in fact, neither of you did.

Of course it's all personal opinion - I would understand people deciding not to drive there because of the bails - I guess I'm saying that I don't see it as a big issue for me ...

Cheers,
Robin

I wasn't to bothered with the tyres at all today. The only one I paid any attention to was the one at the chicane, on the left which meant a slight change of line, but no problems and didn't get close to clipping any others.

What an awesome SE turn out!

Can't wait till the next one. After having the car off the road for so long this year, it was awesome to be out there giving it some stick again......so much so i nearly ran out of fuel

Thought the driving standards were pretty good also, the only person that held me up was that Westfield thing, and after 1 lap and a bit of waving at a marshall going through Duffus the blue flag was out for the next turn :D

For my second KH trip on the trot an Impreza went on fire in front of me, and i got it on film! Fortunately the chap realised something had gone wrong and shut it down in time.

A bit of editing to do and then i'll get the video posted. Got a good 4 laps or so chasing Ali, which was quite good, although the best moment was looking in my rear view mirror to see his Exige sideways through Clarks... :thumbsup

A bit late to this thread, but just thought I'd say cheers to all the Lotuses who show courtesy to guys like me in slower cars. Your acknowledgement of my efforts to get out your way are appreciated.

I enjoyed trying to follow some of you (with the lower powered Elises) for half a lap or so. I think it was the guy with MAC as his numberplate (possibly Mac? :) ) who I had fun trying to keep in sight for a lap and a half until a VX220 fcked up my run.

Just a plea to any inexperienced drivers (2 VX220s spring to mind from Saturday). Please let even a humble Civic Type R past if it's been on your tail for 3 laps. I would do the same for you

ps. tyres at chicane affect my line...others don't bother me.

Just ask Tut about a red VX220

Hairpin......grass......gravel..........very very close and I was watching it all unfold right in front of me. It was one of those moment where you think "why is he moving left? hes gonna run him off the track? nooooooooo he hasnt seen him!!!!!!!"

All seemed ok though, just a bit of a close call.

Did not realise that you were behind me then David.

That was the only bad moment of the day, and it could have been nasty.

He was well over to the right indicating me to pass, I was flat at over 110 before the braking point, and then he suddenly cut in left straight in front of me. No chance of braking, not even sure how it looked as it was just instinctive, but I probably only just made it round the Hairpin after having to go off the track.

Tut,
I was looking to start my slowdown lap on the following lap, followed the vx round chicane and he didnt move over before clarks, and as my speed was well down I decided as you were approaching quickly to move to the right coming onto railway and let you through. IIRC he still had his r/h indicator on as he moved back across to the left.

It had to have been instinctive as it happened really quickly. I could see you trying to keep it straight with half car on grass/gravel and half on tarmac.

TBH I dont think he noticed at all that it happened. Did you have a polite word

Maybe it wasn't you then Mac... my best lap time (from Scottish Sprint Championship at KH last May) is 65.5 secs. I would have been a bit slower than that in yesterday's conditions.

Maybe there's another Elise with MAC as part of the number plate?
