End of year Double Header with LOT - Oulton & Cadwell
Re: End of year Double Header with LOT - Oulton & Cadwell
Just in the door.
2 great tracks, 1 horrific journey home. Now chilling with a little whisky to counteract all the red bull and coffee.

Great to see everyone! My wee car did very well and made it home without any complaint. Although I put the roof on at Durham as it was getting a bit parky.
There was a slightly dodgy moment when the A1 turned out to be closed from Fenwick. Managed to do the detour and not overtly affect the estimated due time.
Hope to see you all again soon.

Just off to brekky then hitting road home too. Might choose the A68 as well. Still tired though. Despite going to bed at 9pm

Re: End of year Double Header with LOT - Oulton & Cadwell
Awesome weekend !!!
Particularly enjoyed Cadwell, slippy at first and dried out quickly, Quote of the day came from Kenny's pal while paxing " think my stomach might have two laps left before I throw up". Well we were off the track in half a lap......... didn't fancy the aroma on the 450 mile trip home.
Also suffered the ultimate indignity.........I got passed by a Reliant Kitten at Oulten while Kenny was paxing, OK it did have some kind of bike engine and we did pass it later in the lap. But being passed by a flame-throwing Kitten......... hopefully never again.
Really long journey home and completely knackered. Was so glad when Ali and Neil passed just south of Stonehaven, less than 20 miles from home and I thought I was going to have to stop for a sleep. They gave the "old man" a second wind and followed them back into Aberdeen.
Roll on Frolic now.

Do you remember passing us just before Dundee? I'd slowed a lot after soiling myself aquaplaning on the big downhill corner just before Perth. New tyres and lights now on order!

And there was me thinking you were in "Fuel conservation mode" again !!!!!!neil wrote:Do you remember passing us just before Dundee? I'd slowed a lot after soiling myself aquaplaning on the big downhill corner just before Perth. New tyres and lights now on order!
Was that moment at Friarton Bridge, I had one at the bridge....focussed the concentration.
Re: End of year Double Header with LOT - Oulton & Cadwell
No, it was the big downhill lefthander as you drop into the Earn valley about 5 miles before Friarton. We'd stopped for fuel at the Forth Bridge as I didn't fancy running out again, especially in that weather!Kinger wrote:And there was me thinking you were in "Fuel conservation mode" again !!!!!!neil wrote:Do you remember passing us just before Dundee? Re: End of year Double Header with LOT - Oulton & Cadwell
Great trip and my first real tracks in the Elise. Got some camber shims out after I had it at knockhill and it was pretty aweful but glad to say the handling was spot on at Oulton and Cadwell. Particularly Cadwell I have to say, just so well composed and balanced. Any slides were very minimal and easy to correct with either throttle control, stab on the brakes or even steering correction
Outbraked myself a few times and simply ran a bit deep off the brakes (gently as Ali mentioned before Oulton
) and turn in and all was good again. OK missed the apex by a mile but still got round.
I put Pagid RS14's on before the trip as I had little confidence in the CL5+'s that I had at Knockhill and they were miles better than the CL5's, a bit of pad deposit and judder at Oulton towards the end of a session but nothing terrible and none whatsoever at Cadwell.
Cadwell in the morning when it was still damp and slippery was the most fun I think (evened out the faster cars) although when it dried out it was a lot of fun too. Again even in the damp the car was so sure footed and predictable.
I can't explain how much I was enjoying the car at Cadwell accept maybe the fact that the afternoon session I did used a full tank of fuel in one go. Just didn't want to come in, simply had a couple of cool down laps now and again and then kept going.
My photos are here http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... =9&t=39430. I didn't take many and none at Cadwell as I was too busy driving.

Re: End of year Double Header with LOT - Oulton & Cadwell
Great trip. Good to see everyone.
The Reliant had a 2.3 turbo Saab engine and was running at 400bhp. He can dial it up to 500bhp!
Agreed on the CL5s. Not very confidence inspiring at Cadwell. I think they were overheating. I was getting the dreaded dead pedal feel where you press the brakes and it feels like nothing is happening occasionally after some of the hard braking zones. They also badly marked my discs although by the time I got home they were ok. Back to Pagids for me I think. Also, for the first time, I felt the limits of my suspension in the very fast sweeping bends at Cadwell. Excuse to upgrade.
