In summary, you will be getting what you pay for and should be reasonable value. I would still probably suggest that this may not be the track for a complete TD novice although I am sure others will disagree.
Thats good information especially since my original idea was to get more people at work out on a track day and they are complete novices. I thought that the run off's would make it safer but having watched the video I can see that its not necessarily the case. Maybe I would be better suggesting the next SIDC day to them.

I still fancy a go at Crail though, assuming we get the numbers.

Just out of interest - how do you get an Ambulance on standbuy? I take it its private, any idea how much it costs?

They would be the folk to ask but that is getting a bit serious. I'd guess a few hundred quid minimum, 2 paramedics (say 300) plus vehicle plus VAT?

I'm on record as saying that I won't be going back to Teeside until they have tightened up their safety on track days so would be hypocritical of me to not expect better standards else where. I work in an industry where risk minimisation is the name of the game, I'm not trying to p1ss on anyone's parade.

(that's not to say I won't go all political and do a U turn on my stance)

Just had a chat with my paramedic mate. He suggests call the local ambulance station, if the area is remote they'll have cars around anyway, if you are lucky they may send a car along to watch (especially if the guy is a car enthusiast) and if not at least they are pre-warned so you discuss ingress egress with them. Likewise the local fire brigade.

Also the remoteness of it isn't a huge issue, that's what the helicopters is for so if something were to happen they'd send that. ALso chance of renting stuff from Scottish Ambulance service or "paramedic 1" a private company that rents out Ambulances and crews.

I suggest get numbers then call the local ambulance mob and see what they say?

Sorry Gents, it looks like we are going to have to give this a miss as there isnt enough interest. Maybe we should try a big SE trackday next year in the warmer months.

Cheers,

Stuart.

If you want we can combine and try and get some numbers for late nov or prob better something in 2009?

The prices basically doubled for crail this year, thats why TrackScotland hasnt organised any in 2008. We have tried several times, but Willie will not budge on the price.

We were £35 a driver last year for 5 hours or so.

Ambulances - From memory the ones you see there at the 1/4mile days are manned by RAF leuchars staff, on a voluntary (paid) basis. Have you spoke to Willie about asking if they can be present. We had no mishaps (one or two offs, nothing major) in the 3 or so Crail trackdays we held.

If you're interested in the above, let me know and we can try and work something out.

Adam
