Beginner track day
Re: Beginner track day
Really hacked off that I never thought to put N1 at the front of the house for TT on the Saturday.
She started it all.

Re: Beginner track day
Not such a bad idea John.
She really could do with coming out of retirement, and although she has not been on the road for four years, as far as I know she is a goer. Change of oil and filter should do it. No tax, insurance or MOT, but none of that needed for KH. Ian would love to drive it, Luke to, and although Clare is in London, Jamie is here.
If my pit team gave it a once over and I could get a trailer, then I could drive N3 down and concentrate on giving Mikie a good seeing to in his new toy.

Anyone got a trailer they could lend Tut for the day?
Re: Beginner track day
I really don't think this is a good idea!
What happened to "the car is being kept for the kids"? Or does Iain ragging it round KH not count?!
If he is so keen to drive (Iain are you listening!) then get some of that newfound wealth of his thrown at it N3 to fix it up, it's the track mule. N1 needs a little longer in pasture...

N1 TUT is and always will be a legend - doesn't need to be a garage queen.

LOL.
But you see my point. Tut was legend for having one really beat up Elise. Period. Then he bought another, which was pristine...for a short while...whilst the other one got patched up. Fair enough.
But to end up with two beat up Elises, I really don't know...having created that original advantage, I would continue to keep one as a garage queen I think.

Re: Beginner track day
As a relative novice, the newbie-only period sounds interesting.
I'm already down for the SIDC day anyway - only 20 cars with little over a week to go is surprising though.

Re: Beginner track day
I think best thing is to book onto the sidc day and see how everyone feels with the 30 minute start, and if they like it maybe look into doing a few more of them.
John what link should i post on the 350z forum where there is a fair bit of interest?

Re: Beginner track day
Just get them to book onto the event using the club shop as per normal, and when they send me their car details, if they tell me they are a novice I will sort them into the correct group.
The link to book up is on http://www.sidc.co.uk/shop/index.php?cPath=33
If it's a success, then we may think about running a specific evening event next year for mostly novices.
It's a great way to get new people introduced to track driving in an environment they fell safe and comfortable with.
