Gordon passed his driving test earlier this year and I'd promised him a go in the R400. Looks like it'll be the TS evening this Saturday. I'm hoping the thousands of laps as pax with me will help but can't help wondering how difficult it is to step up from from 60 to 400 BHP per ton! On the plus side, the R400 can doodle round KH as fast as most tin tops go flat out, but mirror discipline and the throttle control needed to keep it pointing in the right direction will be a new experience for Gordon.

Re: SIDC 9th June
Sounds like a great opportunity. Perhaps you can suggest his first few laps are all conducted 1 gear higher than you would normally use. That might simplify things as well as offering strong risk mitigation
I say again. A great opportunity for him and he's going to be buzzing by the end. As are you...

Re: SIDC 9th June
Gordon did his first track session successfully on Saturday at the TrackScotland event
Beautiful weather and low numbers made it a perfect for what must have been a nerve-racking time for him. He's now looking forward to the 9th
Well caught at 11.40
Well done Gordon

Re: SIDC 9th June
Just a note for anyone attending tomorrow. Knockhill will be setting up for the Time Attack/Modified Live event in the main paddock area, so it won't be possible to park here during the event unless you are a Time Attack competitor.
Participants should use paddock 2 tomorrow, or the gravel area behind Kinnairds. Passengers and spectators should park in the area to the left of the main entrance gates, and use the alternatiove gates to walk to Kinnairds.
Sign on and drivers briefing will be held in Kinnairds. Space will be limited, so spectators and passengers should remain outside until after the drivers breiefing has finished. Passenger sign-on will not start until the driver's briefing has completed.
Our instructor tomorrow will be Sasha

Re: SIDC 9th June
I would think the Time Attack guys will likely be out in the afternoon, after SIDC. John will no doubt confirm!

Re: SIDC 9th June
There are dedicated testing sessions for the Time Attack cars during the Saturday afternoon, which everyone is free to stay and watch and have a nosy around the cars in the paddock. There will also be Honda Civic race cars, and the V8 pick-up trucks taking part as well.
However, there are a couple of drivers who want more track time than 3 x 15 minute sessions in the afternoon, so they have booked up the SIDC track event to get a few extra hours familairity in the morning. Most of them will have a passenger seat fitted
I believe there may be some passenger laps available at the end of the event on Sunday, as a few of the drivers are doing passenger laps in aid of the Help For heroes charity.
