It was my 1st outing in the Elise but I took both my Renaulsport Megane and Clio around KH once each when I had them.
Are you heading up on the 20th June ?
Ah, so you know your way around then

Not sure about the 20th of June at this stage, but will probably end up booking it - ambition for this year is to do a few more trackdays!
Steve Gill wrote:I was getting a bit pissed because whilst they were fast, the 3 of them were holding me up - I didn't want to kick up a fuss on an elise forum about elises though
Wasn't very impressed when the black car spun out, he'd stopped and I went to go past him when he then cut in front of me. Rule I play to is if you spin out, wait for traffic to clear before moving!
Steve, great videos, looked like you were having fun when not getting held up by the Elise train... Thought it was a poor show for the black Elise to pull back in front of you after his spin, looked like you were practically stopped on the track. Looked like he headed straight for the pits, so would have made no difference if he'd waited for you to pass

Thanks Digital - it took me a couple of laps to catch up with the other two after that, and then they went and pulled in - boo hiss!

Thanks to Tut and Mark for taking me on some interesting pax laps.
O yes Mark there was a thought of "O F*CK" as you came up to the hairpin at that speed shouting "Sh*t no brakes". Not the kind of thing you really want to hear but top marks for getting the speed down before the litter tray. Either it was great driving or good bloody luck, whatever it was the car was still in one piece with no noticeable damage and we seemed ok.
Hope you get the braided hose replaced soon for one that won't burst

Check it's not rubbing on anything - make sure it's securely tied to the wishbone and doesn't pull. Wrap some old bike inner tube around it to stop the rubbing.
Braided hoses aren't really a fit-and-forget. Kelvin had one let go at the Nurburgring - he subsequently found that it had rubbed the P clip. I check mine as part of my pre-track process now and the P clips are padded out with bike inner tubes to be extra sure - any fraying and they are dangerous.

Did the stewards/marshals not say anything to the racing elises?

From my experience the marshalls are very good (depending on your point of view) at letting you get on with things - if you're ragged (like the black elise on the gravel quite a bit) then they might warn you from the pit wall but in the main unless you're being very stupid they will let you get on with it. This means cars racing close together, cars driving mm from others bumpers and cars holding you up are unlikely to be dealt with UNLESS you speak to the marshalls and complain about the cars in question. Then something gets done about it, they're not shy at throwing people off if they're getting complaints from other users.
I personally think the problem is often that people don't want to complain at the time, if more than one person had complained about a car driving a few mm behind them the marshalls would have pulled the offending car and warned them that if they do it again they're going home.
I'm a fan of the marshalls at Knockhill because compared to some tracks down south they're pretty laid back and flexible, but if you need something doing just speak to them and they'll sort it out.

Race control/marshall was having a word with them at about 1230 after they'd just come off-track... I was parked in the pits waiting for Jon to go get his wristband before his pax.
No idea what it was about of course. Could have been totally unrelated. Didn't have one of these with me...

Thanks shug, Ali has come up with a solution to the problem. It wasn't by the P clip but about half way between that and the caliper

I have no idea what it could have rubbed on other than the wheel but there's no marks on the wheel

I'll be checking them regular now as that was a tad scary
Cheers

Prolly would have been the wheel mate. It'll chew through the line pretty bloody quickly at road speed - make sure you test them by checking at full lock that nothing touches, also that they are secure in the P clips and won't be pulled through. Well worth taking a serious amount of time over this as I'm sure you're now aware!

As promised, a couple of vids from the weekend. Quality isn't the best, but hopefully you should be able to make out what's going on (mostly me driving slowly!).
