 Heard it all now. £100,000 worth of cars in the drive and no money to drive them !

The Bank (Jen) phonned this morning saying the same thing. My mates stagger and wedding has cost me over a £1000, all in the same month.

Its the Big Day tomorrow, lets hope the drinks cheap

Sorry John I tried to get there !

Despite (or maybe because of) the weather, i had an amazing time today. I've not really done many days at knockhill the past couple of years, partly due to over exposure to the circuit, and partly due to not enjoying the 135R as much as the old honda shed. But today was like trackdays of old. I did more miles this morning than at any of the french frolic tracks, and thouroughly enjoyed the lack of grip :D

Took out quite a few passengers, they all seemed to like the oversteery nature of my car with bald R888's on the rear. The best passenger had to be Pauline. The scream as i turned into duffus on the first lap made me slow down a tad, until i realised that screams meant go faster and sideway was best  . very enthusiastic, top job :thumbsup

There was a guy at the hairpin who was a friend of the yellow Evo, who was taking pictures, so hopefully he will send me a few of them. I think John also got a few of me at Macyntyres, so hopefully he posts them up when he gets a chance.

A great day, albeit not Caterham weather :thumbsup - thanks John.

I seemed to be way off my normal wet pace today with chronic understeer and not sure why. It is my first wet day on the new 13" wheels and tyres, so maybe I need to rethink the setup. But there was some good fun practicing drifting at the hairpin

Nice to meet everyone and chat again. :D

il echo what Neil said,

Dont know if its because it was my first track day but I had an absolutely brilliant time. (I'll post some comments in relation to 1st timer experience in the newbie trackday thread to keep this one on topic)

Everybody seemed to be in great spirits and all the fast guys had clearly decided there was no way they could go fast so they would just go sideways instead.

My highlights

10 laps with mass driving my car and 10 laps with him guiding as I drove, set my day up well and an immediate confidence boost.

Whilst out with the touring car driver/instructor guy every time I came out of a corner at the start of the over taking areas id look in my mirror and every time (and I mean EVERY time) all i got was a complete almost 90 degree side on view of Andy g's 340 he must have been having a riot.

Meeting and having a laugh with (in no particular order) Mass, Kayfur, McKean, Gary+Pauline, Tut (legend) and Luke (was slightly nervous about meeting tut after my little post faux pas yeterday, much to neils hilarity) Andy g, colin, kinger and some others who i didnt even get a chance to catch their names.

getting caught up in Mckeans obviously natural enthusiasm for causing mayhem, am only glad my driving skills kept me grounded enough not to get to boystrus or I could have been in trouble. (I can also vouch for Paulines smile after her pax with him, all you could see through the helmet was a massive grin).

Finally in and amongst all of the above I managed to get about 50-75 laps and not scare myself too horrendously, cant wait for the next one.

Sorry for lengthy post and thanks to all involved for a great day.

cheers

Good to see old and new faces.

Thanks to Neil, Kev, Gary and Andy for the pax laps. Andy, I think you have started the track session very well. Keep it up.

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Sorry about the wee stoppage late in the session; gremlins in the fuel pump electricals. Probably water-related as a wee shoogle on the connections seemed to get it all going again.

Good day though - rather have had it dry but the damp keeps the old reflexes up  I hope the low numbers this time don't put a damper on future events.

Good to see some folks again.. Thanks to Tut for taking me out in his squeeky car, great fun in the rain but he was being a bit restrained after a wee fright on the straight... And McKean what can I say  SKILL! Total legend, so smooth and controlled I could have sat there all day rubbing shoulders drifting round every bend lol I was totally at ease :thumbsup

Sorry I didn't hang around to say cheers to a few or chat too much but I had to dash to let the wife go and collect some kittens for her sister..

Mark :cheers

Good day in the wet - compared to French motorways the track was a doddle ;-)

Thanks to everyone for making my son Tom welcome and for all the pax laps with the sideways brigade - "To the end of the rack and back" is now part of the Iddon family parlance :-)

Thanks to John for organising another superb event - considering the conditions, the carnage was minor and the driving standards were excellent I think - here's hoping business picks up for the next one!

Cheers,
Robin

It was wet. Very wet.

Comparison with TT day a few weeks ago was night and day. Just didn't feel confident I would catch it whenever the back was sliding, so mostly tip-toed round.

With hindsight, I should maybe have got hold of the instructor.

Glad you all enjoyed it despite the weather. I'm away to start looking through the photos now to see if I have any decent ones. Only spent about 5 mins at McIntyres before the rain started to get too heavy nd there was a red flag, so no sidways shots there :(

Our next event is on the 15th September, again from 9 to 1 and we'll be hoping for a bumper turn out :)

John
