Re: SIDC 15th September
I'll be driving down from Kintore, but will go via the Netherley road most likely, and bypass Aberdeen altogether.
Re: SIDC 15th September
Slightly off topic, but i've bought a GoPro for this trackday and wondered where the best mount point is for picture and sound quality? Also, what GoPro setting are best? See you all on Saturday!

Re: SIDC 15th September
I think quite a few folk fit the go-pro to the inside of the rear window, facing forward, taking care not to fill the camera's view with the rear view mirror. From that point you get the view out the front of the car, and can also see what the driver is doing, and maybe also see the rev counter / speedo. You can also try different mounting points throughout the day.B12ANR wrote:Slightly off topic, but i've bought a GoPro for this trackday and wondered where the best mount point is for picture and sound quality? Re: SIDC 15th September
Cheers Dom. I had a quick look through the mounts that came with the camera and none appear to allow you to point the camera upwards from the mount point (ie forward when mounted on the rear glass). I'll have another gander tonight... I might need to magic something up. I've been told the GoPro's are rubbish in poor light which might rule out internal fitting completely.
Re: SIDC 15th September
Try suction mount between seats onto rear screen but fit so the camera is upside down. Standard suction mount only articulates certain ways and fitting the right way up makes the camera too high
You can change the settings in the camera so it will film the right way up even though it's upside down if you know what I mean
In this position it films under the mirror and shows the front view/driver/dash etc
Also remember to set the power off after you stop filming or it drains the battery quickly when on stand by/not powered off
No problems with light in the cabin, only time it's a problem is with direct sunlight straight in, in those conditions it's difficult to see with the naked eye never mind asking the GoPro to work round this
GoPro is great wee bit of kit

I've tried battering it in all directions but can' get the thing to budge!neil wrote:I'd just remove the mirror if you haven't already

Re: SIDC 15th September
Erm, battering is likely to end up with the screen in pieces. Not sure how the later S2 one is, but on the S1, there was an allen headed grub screw that you could loosen and just slide it off the glass mount.B12ANR wrote:I've tried battering it in all directions but can' get the thing to budge!neil wrote:I'd just remove the mirror if you haven't alreadyAnyone fancy at a crack at it on Saturday?

Re: SIDC 15th September
It should come off quite easily with very little force - was the first mod I did to the car so cant remember that well. From memory I think you just slide the black base bit slightly which reveals a small catch. Release the catch and it should slide downwards off the base. I'll have a look later to check though. I presume yours is a post 07 car as I think it was a different design before then?B12ANR wrote:I've tried battering it in all directions but can' get the thing to budge!neil wrote:I'd just remove the mirror if you haven't alreadyAnyone fancy at a crack at it on Saturday?
