Does anyone know if under-17s are allowed as passengers on these SIDC trackdays? My neighbour's young boy, aged 13, is mad about cars and I thought I'd offer to take him out on track, but not sure if he's allowed as a pax at that age. His parents will be with him, so if they need to sign something, that should be fine.
Cheers,

I took a 9 year old out in the Caterham, but that may be different to an Elise as there is less room to slip about
BTW - they keep pads in the helmet store you can put under/behind small people (they use them for the single seaters)
I had one pad behind and one underneath and my niece was well located by the time the full harness was done up.

Been asked many a time to take a small-ish kid out as pax in the 7 - always compared it to taking my elder child (8) out as pax - I'd never do it, so it'd be sheer hypocrisy to take someone else's bairn out....
Youngest for me was a larg-ish 13yr lad

He ain't really a little "kid". He's 13 and quite a tall lad. I've explained all the risks to his parents. His dad actually used to race in stock cars. I've explained to them that I can't guarantee that something won't happen and told them all the risks involved and that he has to sign an indemnity. He's been out at knockhill in that 2 seater formula ford stylee thing they've got.
I'm ultimatley responsible for him if he's in my car but I think his parents appreciate that I can't predict what other drivers will do. It's up to them whether they let him come out with me or not and they wouldn't have agreed to it if they didn't appreciate the risks. I spoke to them about it before it was even mentioned to him.
After all the talk about how safe tracks are when novices like myself were scared about our first trackdays, I'm surprised you think it's such an issue to take a kid out. No different from taking an adult out IMHO. You are just as responsible for adult passengers as you are for kids.

You dont have to drive it balls out, take it easy so you have no chance of being in the tyres and make a kids day.
