....and my Protech dampers, O.Z. wheels and A048s
SIDC 29th April 9am-1pm
The 48s really grip, they're bloody impressive. I could really feel it through Duffus and the chicane. I had soo much grip I kept bottling out of taking the section between Duffus ant McIntyre flat, just felt way too fast!!
Now I've just got to figure out how I'm going to make it along to some of these evening sessions

Sh*g was slagging me for not taking that flat as wellsimon wrote:The 48s really grip, they're bloody impressive. I could really feel it through Duffus and the chicane. I had soo much grip I kept bottling out of taking the section between Duffus ant McIntyre flat, just felt way too fast!!:?
The 48's are immense once they are up to temp, its amazing the difference from the first lap out of the pits.
Still think the R888's are as good if not better though.
Oh yesh - mucho fun was being hadrenmure wrote:I stopped in for a look today. Seemed like everyone was having fun ... including Rosssss at the hairpin![]()
Jim
There was sooooo much grip, spesh with my semi-slicks
Shame I had to shoot off an hour early
Sorry Gareth for not giving you a pax ride, but I'm sure Dave gave a good sample of the 7 experience

What a FANTASTIC day. It was the best track day I have had since becoming hooked all of 4 years ago.
My first time on track in the S1 and it was magic. It may only be 118 horses but it was going pretty well on track. I must admit I was very apprehensive and nervous on the first laps out, mainly because I am so used to the S2 and you hear stories from the S1 guys who say it is so easy to spin and come off. The car, however was fantastic, much more fun on track than the S2, somehow you can play about more with the S1 and it felt more responsive. I am not saying the S2 isn't fun but I think is is much more planted than the S1 , therefore you really need to push it hard to have the tail step out on you. Had a couple of wee slides at the hairpin which felt great.
Great laps chasing Dave McFarlane and being chased by him, both cars very evenly balanced.
Thanks to John, SIDC for organising the event, it was FANTASTIC. Hopefully the rest of the trackdays wont class with my dog shows and I wont need to leave early.
BRILLIANT - oh and thanks to Jonathan Neale for the tips for challenging the hairpin, much better after your advice.

No worries Ross.
Dave showed me how it was done. Picked up on a few pointers on his driving that gave me a little more confidence. He's quite an agressive driver
I think the Caterham would be lots of fun. Definately need to drive one
or at least get a pax lap on the road.
My car was awesome yesterday. 48s are amazing, so much grip and I wasn't
anywhere near their capabilities. Shame we are not guaranteed weather like this all the time at KH.
Trying to get the rear end out yesterday was impossible.
The S1 loves to do it. Maybe it was just down to the 48s having so much grip.
Only complaint was the Golf Gti who obviously didn't know the meaning of blue flags. After 3 laps I had to undertake him. Also the EVO that broke down in the last 15 mins causing the red flags again. I was really enjoying myself at that time.
I really need to put names to faces. So poor at remembering names.
Finally, great work by KH on the surface upgrade. Didn't realise the whole track was being done.

What a great session. Weather was perfect, loadsa grip on the new surface, high driving standards (most of the time), and only 2 stoppages (same car, both breakdowns), and for only 10mins each time.
No probs on the pax laps Gareth, hope it helps you in the decision making process!!!
I got in a fair few sessions but cant find any photos of my car anywhere.
If anyone got some shots of S7 DLO (Yellow Caterham), let me know.
Cheers
Dave
Anoth JohnS SIDC success..
Was a cracking day out - nice to be around lots of other Lotuses and using the Elises as markers from Duffus to Glenvargil.. no way I was going to take Duffus flat as I was hitting 120-140 before the brakes on my faster laps... could have braked later on the Alcons which were superb all day.
Esprit cornered flat and true but really needed stickies to reign in the power..
which was best decribed as 'ample' and most colourfully described on the day as: "The G forces in this are fu**ing mental man"
Great to see some of you - looking fwd to the next one.
