I'm coming along on this, got no car at the moment so mainly for the banter and the booze, BigD has kindly agreed to be my chauffeur
I've got a room booked at the Sandiway on the Thursday night, has anyone got a room they'd like to share at the Best Western in Louth on the Friday night?
Cheers,
Kenny

Just booked myself and Ferg in to The Beaumont Hotel in Louth for the Friday night.
They had a few rooms left when I booked, and they say they have secure off street parking too.

Re: End of year Double Header with LOT - Oulton & Cadwell
My friend cannot make this trip with me now - well, for 2 nights.
so i suggested to get the London train from Edinburgh & get off at Doncaster or Newark
and i'd pick him up Friday evening from the train station
What route are most of you taking from Oulton to Cadwell ?
Theres about 5 ways!

Guys,
I may not be able to come on this trip now, due to an important business meeting coming up on the Friday.
Anybody want to buy my slot for both days and accommodation at the Premier Inn? £230 all in!!

Just looking at routes a minute ago. It's a fairly long drive no matter which way you go. I'm going to avoid the up and down route via the motorways and head due east on the A54 across the Peak District. Shortest route by some 30 odd miles but probably over 3 hours driving.
Re: End of year Double Header with LOT - Oulton & Cadwell
I was thinking of definitely avoiding the M62 and going south like you. I had looked at a route via Derby (passes Donington Park), Nottingham and Lincoln but there are about a million and one ways of going.Kelvin wrote:a4drk wrote: What route are most of you taking from Oulton to Cadwell ?

Does that route bring you onto the A52 just west of Derby? The trouble is you have to get by Derby and Nottingham and the A52 will be bloody busy I expect. That said, the A52 is quite quick once you've cleared Nottingham and quite nice to drive too. The problem is it brings you out quite far south of where we want to be.BigD wrote:I was thinking of definitely avoiding the M62 and going south like you. I'm going to head due east over the peaks for sure. It avoids all the built up areas until Lincoln for the most part.
