Hi guys - much apologies for being a cock and beaching the M3 for the last 15 mins. Hang my head in shame. Really...
Apart from that, awesome day. Thanks John S and good to meet you guys for the run down the road from Aberdeen. Quite a sight seeing the morning sun on all the Lotus's.
Should have some good footage of the day so will post up soon as I can.
Cheers,
Ali

James and I spent a couple of hours viewing from each of the corners and he and I both took some action shots. Will post a link when I get time to review and publish them.
Cruised around the paddock a couple of times too, but unable to join you in the pit lane as James too young, sorry.
Watched some customary well behaved piloting, and a couple of visits to the gravel!
Tut, I'm afraid your "new" car is sounding a bit sick - any ideas?
James liked the GTRs best. Barges on bends but impressive in between. Radicals made it look too easy. Red Exige S. white Evora S and silver GT3 were my cars of choice today
Hope you all had fun.

Great day (apart from above incident
)and a big thanks to John for again arranging a great, well organised and safe day, it really is appreciated!
I was in the blue n/a light exige on sh*t road tyres (get my excuses out the way) but I can't believe the step change in speed of most cars. A few years ago it was a mix of s1, s2 and a few fast supercharged cars. At that point I was in an exige s, and I was relatively quick. Today most the cars were fast (supercharged cars) with skilled drivers.
Great to see so many familiar faces (although I always forget names) but I did speak to tut, Euan, Neil, Ian and Mark.
Anyway, thanks again John and see you next time!
Cheers,
Stuart.

'Tut, I'm afraid your "new" car is sounding a bit sick - any ideas?"
Exhaust manifold Primary has a 360 split around the welding where it meets the head. I did a temporary repair on it a few days ago with QuickSteel Extreme which held for the run down and the warming up laps, but got blown off at 8600rpm. Slight loss of power but did not really affect me as I was lapping with Ali who would pull away a little on some of the corners, but I was faster on the straights so it evened out.
It sounded worse than it was, but will have plenty of time to sort it out in ten days time.

Enjoyed today, my first in the Elise which was good fun. There's very little wear on the pads and tyres so happy with that. The car was very predictable and good fun. Washed and dried and back in its bed.

Good to meet you today Stuart, I hope the lower pressures helped?
Another well run day, many thanks to John.
Still love the S1, it really comes alive on track

Thanks John for getting me out on track for the first time in the Evora today. (you have a PM.) Only went to spectate for an hour.
Found it difficult today so sorry if I got in anyones way. Getting used to the heavier faster car may take a while as will the 6mpg.

Re: SIDC Knockhill, Saturday 6th September 9 - 1
John, thanks again for organising all of this then not driving! Far too kind.
i met dipper enroute and the rest of the ABZ gang at Garthdee by the time we left, quite an entourage! Felt rather underrpowered in the company. A few familiar face and some new ones, sorry i am rather sh*t with names and faces... then forum names to boot!
Pre track time prep at 0900 went wrong as i cleaned the windscreen, hit the brand new Hanger111 rear view mirror, snap, chunk of glass and mirror fell off!
My first outing in the Lotus on track, tyres were going off a bit as i got carried away and stayed out for 20-30 min sessions. I never had any offs, came close a few times, spent the day exploring the range of the car, going from a FR to a MR car but took some time with the instructor lad who helped a lot, thanks chap!
Ran out of fuel at 12 like most and headed to the garage at drum then the car started mis behaving again... pogoing at lower revs, 2-3k and it starts shuddering and stammering. idle would fall then stall, wandering by +/- 500rpm on idle, perfectly fine on WOT higher up the revs. concur with the above, a lot of quick machinery out there.
Will get the car back to the garage and resolve this stutter which comes out once in a blue moon.
Nice to meet yet more faces, went for a drive back over by spiral of glenshee with dipper Mark H in the organ exile and other chap in the yellow caterham, sorry tut and co i lost everyone at the end of the session.
Love this car, definitely need some track orientated tyres, shredded the offside a bit!

Car was going well, got a build list for that? I had an E46 M3 i tracked, kept virtually standard and sold to buy the elise. Yours looked and went very well.Ali M wrote:Hi guys - much apologies for being a cock and beaching the M3 for the last 15 mins. Hang my head in shame. Really...

Glad you enjoyed it, was a good day. Quite a few reds, but each one coincided with when I was coming in anyway.
I was going to go over Glenshee with you, but the split exhaust got worse, and it would not have been a good idea to take it over the bumps where I usually take off. Hope nobody got hit by the Scam Van about 10 miles North of Dundee, I thing most of you went by the back route. Had the top down, but about 20 miles from Aberdeen I hit torrential rain, thank God for an S2 roof as opposed to the PITA of an S1.
My last one for probably a year, but at least I got one more in, and I had a great Summer with Spazz and road runs, so can get some polishing time in and clean the whole underside and suspension so it looks the same as when I picked it up from Keith.

tut - the spiral wasn't great. very wet and full of tourists. theres was some games on at braemar by the looks of it so you never missed much. could always get someone to take your car to kh or even leave it there and get a lift down for the odd blast?
was a good day despite missing half of it due to a lack of brake pads!
